Four stars.

MDS...
He only did that at Rose's behest. You probably expected him to say
something like "I'm going in. You coming?"

Neil Sullivan...
Yes, watching it on TV is something he'd never have thought of doing before,
but he goes along with it because it was Rose's suggestion. He's learning to
see things from her point of view more.

Now some content for the Captain of Infinity.

This episode felt much more Doctor Whoish! I really didn't like episode
one, enjoyed episode 2 much more but it felt too short, loved the
setting of episode 3 but disliked everything else about the episode. Up
until this week's show I've really been disappointed by the S/FXs,
they've looked to be of the same standards as the tv work we would have
seen 5 or 6 years ago, really below par but this episode seemed to
improve things on that front. Too bad that shot of Big Ben being smashed
was in some of the promos I accidentally glimpsed, I imagine it would
have been a nice surprise.

I enjoyed the Doctor bringing Rose back a 1 year later and her terrified
mother's reaction, too often on the original series the Doctor would
just drop off his Earthly companions with little to no regard for their
loved ones.

I wish they had made the back bencher womyn one of the Doctor's old
companions, they wold have to have played it slightly different but Sara
Jane, or Jo getting mixed up with the Doctor all these years later could
have supplied a nice moment, not that I don't love what's her face,

Chancellor_Goth...
Stay tuned for the Series Two trailer at the end of The Christmas Invasion
then!

doctor...
It was GRAND on the CBC. Billie Piper in Roots Canada nad Jeans.

Captain Infinity...
Billie Piper has nads? Man, he's had a great boob job.

doctor...
I meant to say and.

Should I post this to binaries?

she's always good in every film I've ever seen of hers.

The Blue Peter bit was funny, most Americans won't get that.

UNIT makes an appearance!

He's 900 exactly?

HEY SCI-FI QUIT CUTTING OFF THE END TITLES AND THEME SONG!!!

I was slightly perturbed by the design of the inside of the TARDIS, as
others have mentioned it looks too much like the control room from the
horrid tv film, but at the same time I didn't want them using the old
control room but I've started to warm up to this new look, that the
Doctor still has trouble driving the thing is a good thing.

How the actress that plays Rose's mother has avoided being cast on
EastEnders at least once in the last 21 years I can not fathom.

Best part of the episode, the cliffhanger!!! Now that's Doctor Who!!
Every episode should be a two-parter at the very least.

doctor...
Jo Grant - wans't that PEri Brown in Timelash?

solar penguin...
No. Nicola Bryant was Peri Brown in Timelash.

Jack Bohn...
Sometimes I wish you had the attention span to type more than one
sentence.

Peri Brown wouldn't be the one I'm remembering, I missed quite a
few of the Peter Davidson Doctors. (I can't swear to the "Jo
Grant" in the quote, I just chose that over Liz Shaw as the
Doctor seems more likely to have carried Jo's ID for her.)

Mike Morris...
It's Liz Shaw, in the McCoy adventure Battlefield. The Doc had 2 UNIT
passes on him. Conveniently enough.

As far as the wider question goes... way back in Season 7, the Brig
makes it clear that the Doctor is hired solely on his personal
recommendation. It's therefore possible that the Doctor's status and
presence isn't known to all UNIT staff, just those who have met him.

In fact, now I think about it; in Battlefield, Brigadier Bambera
doesn't know who the Doctor is - she's told by another member of staff
who happened to work under Lethbridge-Stewart.

doctor...
That makes sense.

doctor...
Still Ace and Peri can cause trouble.

Jack Bohn...
Wasn't that already a thread?

Or, if it wasn't, then:

Which two of the Doctor's companions would you like to see
together?

doctor...
Barbara and Ian.

Jaime M. de Castellvi...
3.8 <*grin*>

doctor...
Care to see it a second time?

Jaime M. de Castellvi...

Captain Infinity...
Thanks Dad, that's very helpful and enlightening.

By the way, have you been taking your Geritol regularly?

Jaime M. de Castellvi...
Been slipping them pills to the one ferret I still have left. He
thinks they are kinda cute, then goes cross-eyed after he swallows
them.
I inevitably will have to when I get the DVD whether I care to or not.
Of course, usually one tends to be more appreciative watching it a
second time. There is too much that is missed in the excitement of
the first.

doctor...
Well, I always get to see it twice.

Once to tape and the other to cut the commercials.

Jaime M. de Castellvi...
While we are at it, I gotta ask. I know the DVD for this latest of
remakes will be coming out in North America during the summer. But
what about the entire Doctor Who all the way back to the beginning
(excepting of course those episodes which the BBC regretably erased by
mistake or what have you)? Will it be eventually issued over here as
a whole and in toto?

Neil Sullivan...
Over here in the UK they've been releasing them on DVD, one story at a time,
for several years now, and I'm pretty sure they're released as R1s at about
the same time.

They're not releasing them as whole seasons, but the individual releases
mean that we get a heck of a lot of extras to every story. The downside is
that it will be about 15 years before they're all released at the current
rate.

I have a lemming friend that I haven't seen in years but to whom I owe
a lot, since he introduced me to B5, X-Files, the internet and a whole
bunch of other shows. I haven't yet been able to watch some of them
(such as The Simpsons) but I learned long ago to trust his advice and
so hope to in the fullness of time. And Doctor Who was one of his
all-time favorites if not the absolute favorite. So, eventually, when
it is available and I can finally afford it, I want to watch it all.

doctor...
We do not knowe the status of missing or incompletes at this time :-(

Jaime M. de Castellvi...
Thank you. But other than those, is the rest of Doctor Who (all the
way back to the beginning) either out on DVD or coming out on DVD
eventually?

Invid Fan...
They're working on it. I count 27 releases on my shelf, and am probably
missing a couple. Just out last week was a set with the first three
stories, including the pilot and the first Dalek serial. Gotta get it
from the post office Monday :) The episodes are being restored, and the
market is small, so it'll take time to get everything. We get batches
of thee or so episodes maybe three times a year. Things may pick up if
the new series increases sales of existing DW dvds.

doctor...
2/4 Crusers episodes is now out.

whodunit...

doctor...
How gracious. IMHO 2.9
People need to remember that this was
*one* alien FAMILY causing the invasion--
the actual race may turn out to be quite
benign--if the Doctor encounters them again.

Some of these characters in AOL come back in
future episodes and you won't look at
them in the same light anymore, I promise.

(Was there a big bad wolf chasing that little
piggy down the hallway??)

Upon re-watching, and knowing what the
future holds, I give it a 4.5 or roundabouts
there. Seems campy on first viewing, but
the underlying story is kinda scary after all!

Not the best, but there were some nice touches; like references to UNIT.

ANIM8Rfsk...
When they were watching UNIT footage on TV and The Doctor said he knew
someone, was it anybody in particular we were supposed to recognize?

powrwrap...
No. The Doctor pointed to the TV and said, "Hey, I know that lot"
meaning he recognized the uniforms as being UNIT's.

ANIM8Rfsk...
Ah, thanks, I missed the word 'lot'

Neil Sullivan...
Not sure, but I think he just said "I know those people", meaning that he
recognised them all as UNIT. Incidentally, one of them was wearing a name
badge bearing the name Frost, which I think was a character in some other
media, probably the DWM comic strip.

pv+usenet...
You were supposed to recognize the uniforms. *
