Steven L....
How can Berman call "The Evidence" to be a "Loser" when it had higher
ratings than "Invasion" which usually occupies that time slot? Sure,

Sean O'Hara...
He's on crack. That's the only logical explanation.

David...
He's right about everything he says and at the same time wrong about
everything. There are so many ways to look at the numbers that you
could either agree or argue with Berman, variety, hollywood reporter,
zap2it, futon critic, me or anyone else here about anything concerning
the ratings. IOW, it's a pointless exercise.

Note that he's moved Veronica Mars back to the loser column because
it's losing half of America's Next Top Model's audience. Earlier
this year, when it was tanking in the ratings but had a much weaker
lead-in, he was labeling it a winner.

obveeus...
It looks like ANTM's audience/share grew compared to last week while
VM's audience/share shrunk. I guess that means the prior episode of VM
(after the long hiatus) was really bad enough to drive away some of its
own fans. That drop alone makes it deserving of 'loser' status.

Yeah, because a network would rather have two shows in a row that
score 1.2 million viewers as opposed to one that pulls 5 million and
a second that does 2.5 million. Right.

"The Evidence" didn't hold on to all of Lost's audience, but Lost is a
big hit and "Invasion" has had even more trouble holding on to Lost's
audience.

It's easier for "Heist" to hold on to most of "L&O's" audience because
"L&O" had a smaller audience than Lost to begin with. Should we call
"Unan1mous" a "Loser" too, just because it didn't hold on to all of
American Idol's audience?

And among the 18-49 year olds, "The Evidence" did just as well as
"Criminal Minds"--which Berman has labeled a "Winner".

Marc's Notes: To put the ratings for The Evidence and Heist in perspective,
take a look at the retention for The Evidence out of Lost, and Heist out of
Law & Order:

The Evidence (ABC)
Overnights: 69 percent, Viewers: 58 percent, A18-49: 52 percent

Heist (NBC)
Overnights: 93 percent, Viewers: 98 percent, A18-49: +15 percent

In other words, despite lower debut ratings Heist is off to a better start
than The Evidence, particularly with growth of 15 percent among adults
18-49 out of Law & Order.

Out of the second-half of lead-in Deal or No Deal (Overnights: #1, 9.9/15;
Viewers: #1, 16.08 million; A18-49: #1, 5.6/14 at 8:30 p.m.), Law & Order
dipped by a significant 25 percent in the overnights, 44 percent in total
viewers and 54 percent among adults 18-49. Criminal Minds, in contrast,
built from Courting Alex (which will be courting cancellation soon) by 84
percent in the overnights, 5.33 million viewers and 89 percent among
adults 18-49.

To the fans of Veronica Mars: sorry, but retention out of America's Next
Top Model of just 40 percent in the overnights, and 50 percent in total
viewers and adults 18-49 lands it in the loser's listing. Hey CW - are you
really picking up the cutesy sleuth?

TD's Note: Marc covered everything else, just want to add that according
to my files, CBS last aired a new ep of "Out of Practice" on Monday Jan. 9.
Back then they received a 9.1/13 (13.85 million), while last night they only
had a 4.7/7 (7.11 million). Also, a new ep of "Courting Alex" (4.4/7, 6.52
million last night) was shown on Monday March 6 (8.9/13, 13.96 million).
Explain to me again why they moved to Wednesdays?

David...
Not a good idea to move a long-running show out of a slot it always
occupied since people may only be watching out of habit.

ABC - "The Evidence" (debut) - 7.2/12 (9.23 million)
NBC - "Heist" (debut) - 6.6/11 (8.74 million)
ABC - "Freddie" - 5.2/8 (7.76 million)
ABC - "George Lopez" - 5.1/8 (7.30 million)
UPN - "America's Next Top Model" - 4.8/7 (5.17 million)
CBS - "Out of Practice" (timeslot debut) - 4.7/7 (7.11 million)
CBS - "Courting Alex" (timeslot debut) - 4.4/7 (6.52 million)

David...
CBS needs to renew "King of Queens" and move it to Wednesday, where it
did well two years ago.

Jude Cormier...
Why not move "Two and a Half Men" there and see how well it does.

David...
I'd guess it's more important for them to have their best sitcom
Mondays at 9 than Wednesdays at 8.

Jude Cormier...
You don't think the audience will follow it to Wednesdays?
(and yes that was sarcasm)

UPN - "Veronica Mars" - 1.9/3 (2.58 million)
WB - "One Tree Hill" (repeat) - 1.8/3 (2.02 million)
WB - "Gilmore Girls" (repeat) - 1.6/2 (2.02 million)
