The opening homage to the Soprano's season opener (not this season, mind
you) was worth the price of admission alone.

"How many times have we been through this now?"
"About 14 now, I think..."

Well, I thought the whole episode was a big mistake.
One of the things that made the show work was the character
interaction. We like Brock, in part, because he seemed, deep down, to
actually like the little pishers, especially Hank. And one of the

I've always assumed that Brock was actually Hank's father. Yeah, I know
tmcd...

I'm wondering whether Rusty Venture was Hank and Dean's mother.
There was the involuntary lactation in the panic room, and it
certainly explains the reluctance to explain who Mom was.
The bedroom scene with Doctor Girlfriend is not easy to explain,
though.

they're twins, but it can happen. Hank doesn't look much like a

things that we (or at least I) loved to hate about their father was how
he neglected the boys, failing to concern himself with them or their
wellbeing.
But now Rusty's selfishness is almost justified. Why shouldn't he take
a kidney from each of them? They are just disposable clones. And the
idea that Brock ever had any "special connection" to either boy -
beyond what his duties required - is totally dismissed. Why should he
bother?
Mind you, I wouldn't have minded the *idea* of H&D clones. In fact, I
assumed they would be clones, if they came back at all. It seemed
fairly obvious that they were vat grown somehow even before the end of
the season.
But it was just bad story-telling to rub it on our faces like that.
They should have shown the boys without any explanation other than,
perhaps, a wink-and-a-nudge. That would have been in keeping with the
show thus far.
But, inexplicably , TPTB apparently decided to change the character of
*everybody*, except perhaps Dr. Orpheus. Triana is *crying*? Where
did the cool, jaded girl go? Brock is buddy-buddy with - even

I don't see a problem. She may wear black and act uber-cynical, but
she's still a 16 year old girl. Hank and Dean may not've been her
closest friends, but they were still friends, and a teenaged girl
cries when friends die.

Okay... but this was months later. Besides, as far as I could tell,
tmcd...
|
Nit: it was stated to be one month later. (From memory, it was Rusty
talking to Jonas Jr.; Jonas Jr. says that he's gotten two Ph.D.s,
Rusty says something like "I've only been gone a month").
|
she wasn't crying over Dean and Hank, she was crying over the weirdness
of her old man.
|
The crying scene isn't out of character -- it's depth of character.

Okay... but if I want depth of character, I think I'll read a book.
I haven't given up yet. The Tivo still has a Season Pass. And I'm
glad that the ep worked for you. Probably, it worked for many people.
But it didn't work for me, and I loved season one. May we both be
happy soon.

subservient to - his boss? Were did the barely concealed contempt go?
Brother Jonas is cheerful and friendly? Were did the anger go? And
Thadeus T. Venture is competent enough to actually find and study with
various mystics, get by on the dance floor, and even find a non-fugly
girl to bear him children? Where did Rusty go?
I wish they hadn't brought the series back at all, if that's how
they're going to do it. There wasn't an amusing moment in the whole
thing. Curse you, CN! You've stolen my memories!
|
It'd be a total cop-out if it wasn't for the fact that (a) they showed
us the last 13-14 times, and (b) this show is just so f*cking
awesome... :)

Loved that entire scene, especially where Brock and Dr. Venture started
laughing about the mustaches.
Though, the running with scissors one made me wonder - what do they do if only
one brother manages to off himself? Just wait a few months until the other one
invariably does himself in? Or does Dr. Venture just plan vacations for places
with a high risk of organ theft?:)
