Maybe he really is Presidential material.

I had a feeling it would suck when I heard Robin Williams was on. He
never stopped interupting everyone else. STFU Williams! Mahr had
Richard Clarke, a brilliant guest with a lot of offer on the issues,
but he hardly got a word in because of William's inane and pointless
babbling. He interupted Mahr during new rules. He was so annoying and
not funny at all. I hope Mahr never has him back.

Why are you trying to censor Robin Willaims!!!?!?!?!?!!111!!!

Mahr couldn't get a word in edgewise. He couldn't even get the letter
'e' in edgewise.

Williams does the same thing whenever he's on the Tonight Show or
Letterman. After his segment is over and the next guest comes out,
Williams keeps interrupting the host and guest with his schtick. It
really is obnoxious behavior and I can't figure out if it's intentional
or if Williams really has no off-button and he just can't control
himself.

He was on Letterman tonight and was relatively in control. Letterman
asked him a lot of questions about his drinking and didn't allow him to
go off on manic tangents. And since guests leave after their segment
(unless under a very rare occasion like when Dave wants a female guest
to stick around), he's gone by the time the next guest comes on. Guests
stick around on Leno though.

RW is always better one on one IMO. I still thought much of what he said on
Real Time was funny too, but it was a waste of good guests. Maher is trying
to stuff too much into the show these days as evidenced by running overtime.
Chris Matthews would have been better as a panelist, with RW as a video
remote guest. I'm very much looking forward to seeing Harry Anderson on
the panel.

IIRC, Robin Williams is bipolarand i believe he channels that mania
into his act as opposed to tryign to overcome it/calm it down. It's
been like this forever and it's WHY he became popular in the first
place. Heck, people used to watch MORK AND MINDY to watch him go off
and ad lib and to see the look on Mindy's face when it's off script.
The sad thing is not that HE can't control himself but that there's no
friend/confidante that can get him to understand when it's ok to not
be like that.

Williams should be on every week. He is great!

Having an actual sense of humor might help you understand it better.

The latter, I think. Years and years ago, I saw Williams with his kids at a
museum. The guy was exactly the same with them as he was on anything I've
ever seen him. The weird part was, he didn't seem to be doing it for the
benefit of the other patrons (although that may be a feature of talent) but
seemed to be totally focused on amusing his kids. I wanted to say, "Dude,
you're in a museum! Let the kids, you know, learn something."

Gasp. . .you mean Robin Williams behaved like he's behaved for over twenty
five years!!? The outrage!!
Expecting otherwise is like taking a shower and being surprised when you get
wet.

He's always a bit out of control. As you say, that's who he is. Maher
knows that. Anyone who has ever seen him on any show as himself knows that.
I thought he was very funny at times...intrusive at others. To all those
that are so upset, just take note of his fellow panelists...they all clearly
loved him AND his shtick...even (maybe especially) the token conservative
lady congresswoman. She seemed to genuinely like him, even though she
clearly has plenty of differences with him. To all those tight asses who
are so upset, I'd just say, loosen up people.

I don't know if I"m a tight ass or unloose. I just would have prefered
to hear Richard Clarke talk than hear William repeat the same tire,
hack "Why don't they use bookmarks?" jokes.

I don't disagree with you there, I also would have liked more time with
Chris Matthews. I guess I'll say it could have been a better mix. R.W.
should visit sometime he has that insufferable Hitchborn and P.J. O'Rourke
on.

That should have been Hitchens

Yes, God forbid you should hear an opinion that differs from your own.
