Anybody showing Bugs Bunny cartoons anymore?

Susan Bartholomew...
As a kid, I remember watching and enjoying Warner Bros./ Bugs Bunny
cartoons a lot. There was the ABC Saturday morning block every weekend,

muzician21...
Me too, at least the good ones from earlier on, not the later, cheaply
made ones. And the last time I saw them on broadcast TV, they had been
hacked up for reasons of political correctness. Ridiculous edits to
take out various moments of mayhem and they weren't showing the
politically incorrect ones anymore.

I dare you not to laugh at Bugs shoving a whip in Yosemite Sam's (in
one version of this gag) hand then shuffling around on his knees
imploring "pleeez don' whup me massah..." then a quick change to a
Lincoln costume to admonish Sam - "what's this I hear you been whippin'
slaves?....don't let it happen again.....bub...."

Here's my card. Look me up at my Gettysburg address...

and they were also shown every morning before school on our local TV
stations. Loved 'em!

Now I wonder, are there any channels still showing these cartoons on a
regular basis? Or are kids growing up these days with no exposure to
them, other than on DVD sets (which you have to buy in order to see),
and movies like Space Jam?

I know there are issues with violence and such, maybe that's why I don't
see them around much anymore. Makes me kinda bummed to think that the
day might come when kids might only have a vague idea about these
cartoons, though...

David...
I'd guess Warner Bros pulled them to give the cartoons a rest, or
maybe to help the "Golden Collection" sales. But it looks like they'll
be back on Boomerang's schedule in September

GarondoMarondo...
Comcast only offers a few Boomerang shows via VOD.

..
Garondo Marondo!

Derek Janssen...
Bugs Bunny toons soon joined the anthem of CN execs, the same one we
heard after Yogi Bear and the Flintstones had been exiled:
"So?...That's what Boomerang's for!"

(Until of course,
A) you found out you weren't in one of the twelve or so states that was
actually carrying Boomerang, and
B) before Boomerang wasn't showing them anymore either, to make room for
more exiled "Dexter's Lab" reruns.

2000man...
a is flawed boomerang was available to every one in the usa with directv

Ted...
And yet Cartoon Network's decision to bankrupt the random encounter
classic cartoon choices of most people with cable is much more flawed...

2000man...
sorry i dont understand what you said who is bankrupted?

Derek Janssen...
Anyone who wants to turn on their TV and find a cartoon before 1994 at
random.

(Namely, "bankrupted" after they have to buy every single one of
Warner's DVD sets just to get the toons out of permanent limbo again.)

Thus, with the new push to clean everything out onto DVD so fans
wouldn't have any grounds to complain to the networks anymore, creating
the term fans use today, "Cartoon Network Syndrome"--
Even though the practice had *actually* been invented by the Disney
Channel two years earlier, when they bounced their last late-nite Mickey
Mouse toons onto DVD, to make room for more Lizzie McGuire.)

Teletoon, Canada's 24-hour all-animated channel (two feeds, one English
and one French) airs "The Bugs Bunny And Tweety Show". And if they get
CRTC approval to launch Teletoon Retro, you could expect even *more*! I
know years before Global started airing 'The Simpsons' on Saturday and
Sunday afternoons (around 4-ish), they use to air Bugs Bunny for THE
longest time!
