Why must everyone schedule SUNDAY for their best programs?

videonovels...
HBO - premiere of a new movie
History - premiere of new documentary
Discovery - premiere of new documentary
FOX - cartoon lineup of Simpsons, Family Guy, et cetera
ABC - desperate housewives
NBC - football
CBS - american race/cold case
local - reruns of favorite shows like Farscape, Smallville, South Park
marathons - TNT, USA, FX typically schedule marathons and/or movie
premieres on Sunday nights

me...
I don't have cable, but the only thing that interests me on the broadcast
netowrks is Fox with that lineup.

.

I've only got two vcrs. I can't watch all these shows at the same
time. Couldn't they "spread out" these programs across the whole week?
It's not necessary to clump ALL the shows between 8 and 11 p.m.

Scheduling shows on the night with the most viewership. What could they
possibly be thinking?

Sunday.

bklyntv...
It's the night the most people watch TV.

Ad rates on Sunday are right high--and shows on that night rack up
big sponsor bucks. I usually use the "cable attrition" rule in cases
like this--you know cable stations are gonna repeat most shows later
on that night or that week, so unless you are really hooked on a
series or something, postpone. Out of what's left (the big three or
four), pick which you want to watch the most. That is, if you don't
videotape or have TIVO...

Watch football. That will never be repeated. Almost everything else on
your list will.

With two VCRs and a splitter you can handle three shows.

kaydigi...
3 tuner DVR would solve your problems.

seerialmom...
Because it's a competition...and they know not everyone has 4 VCR's and
a dual DVR like I do :)

Programming a VCR is no sweat.

Finding time to watch the tapes is the problem. I often erase tapes
having never seen the show that's stored on them.
.

As for a 'solution' I do what others have suggested: Check the History
or XYZ Cable Channel's schedule to see if the Sunday premiere will be
repeated at a later time. For example, I wanted to see USA's movie
Final Destination 2, but my schedule was already full. ----- So I
checked the schedule and saw it repeated yesterday at 4, and watched it
then.

Net result- I often watch only the free network stations on Sunday, and
postpone the HBO or other Cable premieres until later during the week.

But I agree...it's annoying. Luckily some of the shows I like on cable
channels repeat later...I wish network shows would too. Our location
lucked out though with CBS...they show american race (btw it's AMAZING
how good that RACE is) an hour earlier. That way I can watch Everybody
Hates Kriss when it starts back up :-p

The only one worth watching out of all of that is Desperate
Housewives. So what, exactly, is the complaint?
