Replacement for Zap2it?

Jim Heckman...
One of the features of zap2it I used heavily was the ability to
search for actors, directors, etc., not just keywords in a show's
title or description.

So of course that's one of the things they threw out with their
recent revamping, and have yet to replace.

patty1...
Not only is the new search function lacking the ability to search
by actor, etc., but even the basic show search is screwed up. When
I search for "North of 60" now, I get anything that has "north,"
"of," or "60" in the show or episode name--even if I put the show's
name in quotes to make it clear that I want that exact phrase. (And
which, incidentally, I don't have to do in the old search.)

Please, everyone who's bothered by the crippled search functionality,
use the Feedback button to send Zap2It a note.

Anyone know of another site that lets you search like that?

bklyntv...
ostensibly about movies.

cloud dreamer...
Neither work for Canadian listings.

tyrone1...
both have search of a sort. titan seems more thorough

of course the initial sigm up / set up the grid etc is always a
chore/mystery

I use Myway
never liked zap2it

I dread the day when zap is the only one left . it is by far the
most common. you probably have never heard of the ones above

Jude Cormier...
zap2it used to be Ultimate TV.

Matt Messina...
Right. And before that it was The Gist, and before that it was TV1.

Daniel Damouth...
Pretty sure zap2it bought clicktv and obliterated it. clicktv was the

Your memory matches mine.

Tom Hall...
And mine. I was quite choked when ClickTV got taken over by Zap2It.

I've gotten used to Zap2It over the years, but they still annoy me with
their friggin' popups that still once in a while slip by my popup blocker.

The thing I liked most about ClickTV was their reminder system. Every time
you logged into the site, the first thing shown would be the list of show
reminders. Zap2It has _never_ implemented this functionality. Their
reminders link is buried at the bottom of their configuration page, and
even though the system appears to know who I am as soon as I connect (as
evidenced by the correct listings), it STILL makes me log in before I can
view reminders.

ClickTV's reminders also included a brief synopsis of the show, whereas
Zap2It only shows title, time and station number.

For those who don't want to have to deal with the new grid at Zap2It, you
can go directly to the old one with this link:

You're correct.

best online "tvguide" to date that I've seen. It's quite sad to see
web services devolve in quality.

patty1...
Yes, there was much gnashing of teeth here in r.a.tv when ClickTV
died. As I recall, there were even some newspaper websites that
had blurbs on their TV listings pages that basically said, "please
don't blame us; we aren't any happier about it than you are". :-)

Stan Brown...
Excite TV does. You don't have the ability to put channels in your
preferred order, though.
