Ken from Chicago...
I finally realized why I had a problem with Amanda Peet on STUDIO 60,
because she's the president of a major tv broadcasting network, based on
last night's episode.

NOT because she's a female, or because she didn't seem to dress the part of
a network prez, tho that was part (four episodes before she finally wore a
business SUIT, either skirt suit or pants suit to work), or she had people
come to HER for a discussion, no, it's that Peet and guest star, Christine
Lahti were in the reversed roles.

It's an AGE deal.

Amanda Peet is 34, when the youngest tv network president is in his mid 50s.

Jamie Tarses was younger than Peet when she was President of ABC.

Brandon Tartikoff at NBC was younger as well.

It isn't her age per se or even her cheesecake good looks. She was simply

And not many people would argue that. But note that these comments
are in response to Ken's assertion that it *is* her age that's the
problem.

miscast.

Obveeus...
Just like with the comedy skit complaints, Studio 60 is getting knocked for
being accurate because people don't want to believe the accuracy.

Or because they don't think that the accuracy makes for good
television?

(Note: I've got no dog in this fight; I don't watch the show.)

Ken from Chicago...
Hmm, well, nevermind then, all of you are right and I'm wrong.

It's not Peet's fault. She plays the characters as well as anyone could but
the role is miscast. Lahti, at 56, would have been a much more credible as a
tv network president, going toe to toe with Peter Weber's chairman of the
board character.

Meanwhile Peet would have been great as the reporter going behind the scenes
with full access.
