I watched the whole thing, more or less (missed a few minutes here and
there). The concept of being brought in front of a panel of judges has
proven to be successful more often than not. The inventors and
inventional also have potential for interest. However, the way the
show is packaged needs improvement on several fronts.

For starters, using a musical underscore to try and heighten the
tension was more of a distraction than a benefit. Secondly, what's
with the contestant soundbites in front of a white background? Looks
like a nuclear explosion went off behind them! Also, please tell me
the judge with the funky shirt will put some shoes on and make a
greater effort to not appear like he just walked in from off the beach.

He seems like a typical eccentric inventor with unusual social
skills. No problem for me.

Finally, the host needs to be worked into the show more often. Seemed
like long stretches between his appearances.

The show is put together exactly like Idol. Ryan has a limited role
in the early audition rounds then becomes a real host later.

In all, an okay first effort that could stand to be less pretentious.
Will probably check it out again next week. After that, I'm not yet
sure.

Yeah, I thought it was good fun and quite interesting. I
pretty much agree with all your points for improvement but
for a first ep
it did grab me onboard for the season probably. I think they
could soft-pedal the all-American hero stuff a bit--the
tears and faked human interest "stories" don't do much for
me...a little bit is ok, but... I had at least two big belly
laughs out of it (still trying to make heads or tails outa
the guy with the car covers :))...but his pathos as he
walked off was touching.) It seem to have the right balance
between humor and later on the interest from more serious
inventions and this should improve towards the latter as the
eliminations progress to the finale. Another winner from the
original reality gang! ...tonyC
