I do not find My Name Is Earl funny but love The Office, Scrubs, and 30 Rock...

Is there something wrong with me? Jason Lee is cool, but I've never

Yes. It would appear that you've had a humorectomy.

been amused by his show. Not once.

I've tried to like The Office, but think it's dull and very not funny.
Love Earl, however...
Anthony Cerrato...

Well you clearly don't know funny! Granted that Earl is
funny too, but the intelligence of The Office far outweighs
anything Earl [or even Scrubs] provides. It's not just
comedy but drama too. AFAIAC, The Office is, without a
doubt, the funniest sitcom ever made for TV!

I agree too that The Office is the sharpest, funniest comedy on the air
right now....its cast is fantastic, it has a nice balance between the
laughs and the drama (the Pam and Dwight scene this week is just an
excellent example of how the show adeptly fuses the dramatic and
comedic elements together).

It's a different kind of funny.
suzee...
|
Yep. Which is why I don't find the Office as funny.

If someone held a gun to my head and made me choose, I'd keep the Office
and cancel Earl. If they cancel The Office before Pam and Jim get
together, that's a disaster. If they cancel Earl before he finishes his
list, that's a mild disappointment.
Victor Velazquez...

Not to take it too seriously but I think one of the underlying messages in
Earl is that even if you are a rigorously good person, you still have to
keep adding to your list.
And I also prefer The Office but then I've worked in one of those but never
have lived in a trailer park. :-)

I've never lived in a trailer park either, but have worked in an office.
Not one like on The Office though...
Victor Velazquez...

Nor I, although I have had my share of Michael-ish bosses.

Even if you've never lived in a trailer park most of us "know" people
who do or we have relatives we don't talk about who are like the cast
of Earl.
I could see how someone who hasn't ever worked in a cubicle farm might
have a harder time relating to the situations of The Office (similar
with the movie "Office Space").

You know, if you give me a little time, I could give you a whole list
of everything that's wrong with you...

No; Earl isn't everyone's cup of tea. I really like it and the others
you mentioned but have no interest in watching 30 Rock. Or Lost. Or
CSI (insert city/state here).

I tape the two-hour block -- I hate half-hours -- and I've never
watched EARL. It just doesn't seem like something I'd like.
The Citizen...
|
It's not a bad show. But it pales in comparison to the two shows that
follow it, "The Office" or "Scrubs". I see it as a good appetizer to
whet your appetite for those shows.
Jamie Pressley really is the best part of that show. And not even for
eye candy. She's actually funny.
