"Happy Go Lucky"
5-2-06 Veronica Mars

5 stars (Tom Jones)

0-1 stars (Stubb)

Giovanni Wassen...
The verdict is in:

4.50 stars

kenm47...
4.0

But probably too much going on for just one more hour to wrap up in
anything near satisfactory fashion.

Ken (Brooklyn).

Laddy...
Does anyone know whether the new CW affiliation contracts allow for
affiliate's to have broadcast contracts with sports teams that override
network broadcasts?

ANIM8Rfsk...
God I hope not. I hope they're smart enough to avoid that. Here, they
dumped the UPN station and went with the WB station that actually shows
programming.

The UPN station doesn't even have ads for much beyond their own programming,
and their sports pre-emptions.

4 stars.

A good episode with many great scenes, and a lot of new
information leading towards the resolution of the season-wide
story arcs. But therein lies the problem IMO. This episode
felt too busy at times, with important character and plot
developments being rushed through. I would have liked to have
seen the Aaron Echolls trial stuff presented a few episodes back,
so that the impact of Veronica's revealed secrets on Keith, and
their relationship, could have been played out over several weeks.
The new information about Woody and his likely involvement in the
bus crash was dynamite, but it should have been dealt with seperately
from the Echolls trial. Likewise, the Jackie/Wallace/Jackie's
Dad/Lobo stuff just increased the sense of overkill in this very
busy episode. Lots of good ideas, but the timing of their presentation
felt wrong.

Ian J. Ball...
Dang, I'm good.

I said last week that I had a theory about the bus crash, and it turned
out I nailed it in regards to Woody. So, a 4.25 episode get bumped up by
0.1 for my correct guess, yielding a:

4.35

Still, they *seemed* to tie up the bus crash explanation at the end of
the *penultimate* episode, so I'm dubious that the Woody-did-it
resolution is the correct one.

Guess we'll see next week.

Ian (BTW, my latest theory is that Beaver caused the bus crash. We'll
see if I'm right about that next week too. ;> )

Well, you knew the outcome of the trial, that was obvious going in, but how
it was done -- so real...that lawyer had slime just rolling off of him....

There was a lot going on in the episode and I love when they do that, I
have lot to think about....
