This should be excellent! Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"
(formerly of "The Daily Show") will be a guest speaker at the White
House Correspondents Dinner, Saturday, April 29 at 8 PM EST. It will
air live on C-SPAN.

Colbert was really quite amazing. His sketch with Helen Thomas
ran a bit long, but on the whole this was a helluva piece of work. In
terms of mocking the audience who invited him, it was even better than
Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Probably because his popularity and credibility among markets worth
seeking is higher than the White Press Corps--and the White House.

Where can one go to see the show?

Then you can submit your thanks to Stephen, as thousands already have done.

I watched the WH Correspondents Dinner on CSPAN.
The audience didn't appreciate Stephen Colbert.

Uhmm .. maybe because his routine pointed out some uncomfortable truths.

Nice attempt at spinning Colbert's routine flopping.

No, mainly because it could have been a lot better, as it is sometimes on
his show. I really don't think that character is well-suited for stand-up,
either. In previous dinners, the audience has shown itself to be very
willing to laugh at hard-hitting jokes aimed in all directions, as is common
at roasts.

Uhmm, more likely he completely blew, which is why his show is so
uneven. Anyway, continue sobbing.

Punch lines fell flat. Audience laughter was rare.
Helen Thomas seemed to have a good time with Colbert.

I would guess that most of the people there quickly reached a point where
they were afraid to laugh out loud. Brilliant, though, nonetheless.

The Presidential imitator was an outstanding performer
and was enjoyed by the audience.
