Just Another Victim of the Ambient Morality...

I'm kind of disappointed by the latest (Nov. 6) broadcast of Heroes.
Some things happened but they didn't appear to further the plot any. Hiro
and Mica's father help save a couple from a burning car. Mica's mother is
still looking for him. The cheerleader was found out by her brother but
he'll stay quiet now. The mind reading cop discovered his wife's adultery.
The flying politician has marital problems while his brother needs to see a
painting. All these things are just filler drama to occupy our time. It
looks like the show will simply become an ongoing prime-time soap opera.
The only things that furthered the plot at all is that the mind reader
cop found another mutant (for lack of a better term) and Peter was told
about his brother's kidnapping attempt. Even then, these events won't
necessarily amount to any importance in the story. For instance, Hiro and
Mica met but then quickly parted ways, again, without any foreseeable
progress. Oh, we also learned that Mica is, in fact, a mutant.

You didn't know this? The way they telegraghed it, the only thing left
was what abilities.

The show started out moving slowly and the pace hasn't gotten any
faster. The next-episode teaser made it look like a lot will happen next
week but I suspect that it will simply be more of the same. If memory
serves me, all the teasers make the next episode look exciting and
prophetic. My fear is that the show will continue this pace throughout the
entire season without any real progress in the story now that they know
that it is profitable and they'll want to keep it on the air longer than
they anticipated...
