You're exactly right, because I saw the actress in a promo somewhere [as she
is naturally], and she is cute/adorable.

You can probably guess that with this TV role she will go out of her way to
look her best when going out in public.
Reminds me of those male actors that play wimpy teenagers on TV and spend
all their time weightlifting in real life to counteract the character
stereotype.

Like the guy who played Kevin's best friend on Wonder Years. He grew up
to be actually rather good-looking.

He is a good example. As I recall, they had to write his muscularity and
growth into the storyline since the actor changed so much.

He's a successful lawyer now, but he is NOT good looking.

There was a period when I thought he was cute. I just searched the web for Josh
Saviano, and yeah, I guess you're right. Not actor-pretty anymore, but
I think he might be more than acceptable IRL.

I wasn't judging his 'looks'. He did grow about a foot over the off season
one year and, like the other TV nerds with self esteem problems, spent all
his time working out with weights to try and counteract his TV image. The
resulting visual change caused the show to have to write in how the main
male characters on Wonder Years were growing apart.

Earlier I saw a post saying the actress is beautiful. (So I might have
distorted high hope.) But when I first saw her photo on USA Today, my
thought is, "Ouch, America is ugly. The only job she can find is probably to
play the Ugly Betty. And her mother shouldn't name her America. Only
beautiful babies could be named America."

No, they're part of her costume and makeup. The question is, are you going
to judge America Ferrera's appearance on the superficial appliques she wears
as the fictional Betty, or as she appeared, say, this week on "Jimmy Kimmel
Live?"
While we're at it. Michael Dorn isn't really a Klingon. He's really a rather
handsome man.

In her workplace, looks are *everything*, it seems. That's why an
average-looking person like her sticks out so much.

fact, as the weeks go by, it's going to be harder and harder for her to
defend wearing those outfits. I can't imagine that she'll want to
continue looking dorky when it's so obvious she could just fit in so
painlessly.

As it was in her feature film, America Ferrera is a real woman with curves,
coping with a world that makes perverse fantasy creatures out of women who
are too weak from malnutrition to be good in bed.

I'm getting tired of these complaints. I love America Ferrera, and I
don't want to denigrate her looks, but she is generally an average
looking girl in real life (not that I don't find that attractive, but
let's be real). The fact is, there really aren't a lot of truly ugly
people out there. Someone would have to be really deformed to be "ugly"
and if they are that, they certainly wouldn't have a career in this
industry.
It's not like Ferrera is Rachel Leigh Cook or Anne Hathaway. She was
the right choice for Ugly Betty, although I will admit that it should
have been called "Plain Jane Betty." But "Ugly" is easier to remember I
suppose.

He is only attractive to women because he is famous and has lots of
money.
If he was an average Joe working at Walmart he wouldn't be so
appealing. :)

I saw him in an airport in 1971 the day after a concert, and he wasn't
all that attractive. Kind of a hungover mess, with a blonde girl half
his age and even more of a mess.
