George Avalos...
"Scar"

Earl Grieda...
Just finished watching it on tape (love fast forwarding thru commercial).
Easily the best episode of season 2. After the very weak, but OK, episode
of last week this returns us to the quality BSG of Epiphanies and earlier
episodes. This episode needs to be watched 2-3 times in order to catch the
details and nuances.

2-3-06 BSG

5 stars (James Bond)

pv+usenet...
2.5. Actually I thought this was pretty good, but I'm taking off a full
point for the unnecessarily convoluted plot structure. *

0-1 stars (Harvey Dent)

Giovanni Wassen...
2

I hate the 'xx hours earlier' parts and the writing with one is lazy as
hell.

the other Eric...
5. It was the best episode ever.

Alan Figgatt...
3.5 stars for an ok episode.

Subtract 2.5 stars for an impossibly packed asteroid field right out
of Star Wars. Large rocks or rubble that tightly packed together would

Brandons of mass destruction...
You're a lot of fun at parties, aren't you?

gravitationally condense to one body in a matter of weeks, if not sooner.

Zombie Elvis...
Most of it appeared to be rubble thrown up into space from the mining
operation so it didn't bother me at all.

The major flaws in basic science and physics in this show are getting
harder for me to ignore. The way the Vipers land on the Galatica
emulating a landing on a sea based carrier for starters.

the other Eric...
Maybe you should stick to watching Nova.

Alan F

Lizard...
4.25

One of the best episodes of the second season, a nice return to
'normalacy', in the sense of the day-to-day struggle to survive, where
the crisis is not entirely personal but concerns the fleet as a whole.
The use of this as a backdrop to delve into Starbucks mangled psyche
was excellent, as was the discussion of the nature of the raiders --
suddenly, they aren't just mindless drones, but enemy pilots in their
own right.

It was a classic World War I style air story, with a cyborg Red Baron
and a bitterly alcoholic Snoopy.

erilar...
I'm glad I'm not alone here. We seem to like this ep for the same
reasons.

ANIM8Rfsk...
Hey, wait a minute, you calling Stardoe a dog?

Uh, come to think of it, yeah, okay, it's a fair cop.

CatPanDaddy...
Hey, she cleans up good sometimes.

ANIM8Rfsk...
Nah. That whole 'look how good she cleans up' scene was hysterical, 'cause,
you know, she looked AWFUL in that dress. She looks way better in her
uniform.

CatPanDaddy...
I don't think the actress had any trouble getting dates even before becoming
miss tv star.

Electric Frog...
3.0 I'm fed up with the 94hrs earlier and flashbacks (have the writers been
watching Lost) ?

Kujo...
3.5 stars.

The flashback thing is getting tired. Last 3 out of the last 4 eps have
used it. I would prefer not to see anymore flashback for the rest of
the season.

Good ep overall. It's nice when you have an ep focusing on space
combat, and it's toll. I would have liked to see Starbuck handle Cats
undermining differently. She should have really set her straight. I
would have even liked to have had a scene with Admiral Adama, and Cat &
Starbuck.

erilar...
4 and I'm pretty sure that's the first 4 I've ever given this show. No
Baltar!!

Hobart Floyt...
2.5 stars. And that mostly for the dogfights.

The main theme was too much like last week's
episode. Major character in angst over personal
life and past relationships.

Back to elements I LOATHE about the "re-imagined
Battlestar Galactica". Ripping clothes off, gratuitous
language, an undercurrent of mocking the original.
(Did we really need Stardoe mentioning a "Cassie"
at the beginning? I didn't particularly care for the
pilots' "call signs" being more appropriate for the
Fool's Guild either. Beano, Chuckles, etc.)

I found another item to add to the "re-imagined"
drinking game: Take a chug whenever somebody
is in a cockpit / ejector seat and gets a blank look
on their face as time slows during a battle.

And if we're having Kara drinking out of a German
beer stein, can't we at least have a rousing drinking song?

Kweeg...
4 stars

Night Spirit...
I give a 5.0, The flash backs blended with the dog fight perfectly.

CatPanDaddy...
I was starting to think I was alone in that opinion! Good to have someone
else on board.

Stephen Adams...
3.75

Great episode, but -1.25 for the flash-forward-flash-back for the THIRD
time. Ugh. I'm getting tired of it.

Andy...
Funny, that. I *like* the flashbacks.

4.5; was 4.0, but another eric convinced me it was harsh.

-0.5 for not developing the storyline with Scar before the episode in which
it climaxed.

However, somebody needs to talk to their CGI department about asteroid
fields ;-)

Zombie Elvis...
4.91819191519

Nobody...
2...fairly lame. If I were someone's commanding officer, I'd throw his ass
in the brig for being that disruptive. You never let someone undermine
your authority.

dm...
3.5

It's a fun ride, and I actually like stand alone episodes, but
deductions for ...

Acting and dialogue: over the top.

rgorman...
That was the joke he was making.

Tim McGaughy...
I'm not so sure of that. It seemed to be a piece of unused footage from
Legend.

Kat is a pretty mediocre actress, and annoying to boot.
Yes, the "48 hrs earlier" thang.
How many times did they repeat the game of chicken?
I dunno, it seems like this kind of story seems familiar. This time
with two macha chicks (nothing wrong with that).

Laddy...
yes we corrected that in the thread a while ago. :)

Beth...
Sorry - I recorded it and watched it late this afternoon.

Last...
Where's Husker? He's the best thing on the show and he's been
pretty much AWOL lately.

Maybe Moore's podcast will convince me to raise it a half-pt...
