Ugly Betty - anyone suspect it will be the Emmy darling?

I love this show so far. I especially love watching Wilhemna played by
Vanessa Williams. I have a feeling that this show will become a darling
of the Emmy's like DH was for the first season.

I think Williams is so far a shoo-in for best supporting actress for a
comedy series. Which will go along with her Grammy award and I think she
won or was nominated for a Tony. I also think America Ferrara (sp?)
will be nominated but not win the first year - she will do well in the
award shows that are based on viewers choice ie People Choice Awards.

The father will probably be nominated for best supporting actor without
Peter Boyle he may be seen as the replacement to Boyle.

Without Will and Grace or Everyone Loves Raymond this year for best
comedy I would not be too surprised if Betty wins best comedy.

Lets face it the comedy genre is very, very light this season. DH may
follow the path of last season where it was kind of shut out. This
season to me is not even as good as last season.

If UB puts itself in the drama catagory what I wrote above is moot. They
will be shut out.

Ugly Betty is most certainly not a drama. I can't imagine that it
would even think to not enter itself in that category. I can't imagine
it'll be ignored come Emmy time, though last seasons Emmys were
terrible and I didn't watch for the first time in years. That said, I
think it has a good shot at Best Comedy. And yes, I imagine
nominations will head America Ferrera and Vanessa Williams way.
