Who were the most fortunate folks to have crossed paths with the
Beatles and the most unfortunate?

On the topic of unfortunate, does there seem to be a greater proportion
than normal of people closely related to the Beatles who have died
before old age?
I can think of:
Stuart Sutcliffe
Brian Epstein
Maureen Starkey
John Lennon
Mal Evans
Linda McCartney
George Harrison
Bernie Woodham...
|
Considering the number of associates or ways to link to the Beatles, that
number is not many at all.

I disagree. It is a fairly large percentage OF THOSE WHO WERE CLOSE TO
THE BEATLES. If you count hangers-on, then no, but the list above
represents the top echelon of Beatles people including 2 Beatles.

I would say Brian Wilson. His competition with the Beatles drove him
over the edge after hearing Sgt. Pepper.

Sharon Tate?
Low blow I know, but the beach boys reference got me there.

I think Julian was pretty unlucky . . . . at least he seems to be an
unhappy fellow. In a sense he lost his father to Beatlemania.

Saw Julian at CWPost college, touring with Valotte............in
between songs, shouts of "we loved your father" could be heard
throughout the evening........must have been difficult
|
I think Kyoko is one of the luckiest . . . . she hardly knew John, did
nothing for him, and now lives the life of a very rich woman.

Tell us more about the show. How did Julian react the the crowd?

CW Post college, Long Island, New York
Julian came out, wearing a British flag jersey or jacket and sang his
Valotte numbers, I thought very well under all the scrutiny. Very
little banter with the crowd. You could sense people were there for
John as much as or more than for Julian..........and the shouts of "we
loved your father", made me feel a bit sad for him. It was strange
hearing his voice, much like his dad's and I guess I was there for the
same reason...........wanting John not to be gone and hoping this would
be a connection or continuance of the past. He is talented but I'm
afraid the shadow of his father will be very hard to
escape............and to shine on his own, very difficult.

I saw him play to a small crowd in Manhattan, maybe about 10 years ago.
Coincidentally, May was there, too, but I didn't know her at the time.
As far as I can remember, no one mentioned his famous dad. It seemed as
if the people there were there only for him and his music.

Yes, people were there (CW Post) for him but you could feel that they
were also there for John, which I think is understandable. I was there
for both of them myself.

It seemed as if he had friends there. I remember that people were
singing along to his music. As for myself, I was there for his music,
and also to see the little boy from the early Beatles days. Didn't they
call him John Julian then? That's what I remember, anyway.

I hope that one day he achieves great success.

I don't know about fortunate, but Brian Epstein would certainly be one
of the most unfortunate. That wasn't *because* of crossing paths with
the Beatles, though; in fact, that was one of the few bright parts of
his life.

Probably yourself, unless you crossed paths with the Beatles and the
most unfortunate.

Did cross paths, 1962.........Cavern

Did you really see the Beatles at the Cavern? I did not know that.

Was in England with my family visiting my Mom's parents in Blackpool.
Had a cousin in Liverpool and visiting her, was told of the "commotion"
being caused by the boy's. Found myself at the cavern and thought it
odd so many people were cued at the door...... being around lunchtime.
I was fortunate to have been there and unfortunate at the same
time.........COULDN'T GET IN !! Of course Mom thought that was good
news being that her boy shouldn't be around "hooligans". . It was
around the same time Eppy was searching them out..........I came to
learn. .........so, no, I didnt't SEE them but boy did I come close.
Still have the family passport.
