interesting stats about Beatles solo albums at amazon

DanKaye...
I was looking to see if Sometime In New York City was available at
amazon.com and found what I thought were some interesting stats:

Sometime in N.Y. only has 15 reviews, and gets 3 and 1/2 stars.

Compare that to Walls and Bridges with 31 reviews and 4 stars.

Then here is where it gets interesting to me:
Plastic Ono Band (the 1st solo album) gets 198 reviews with 4 and 1/2
stars.

I would have thought Imagine would have had the highest ratings and
most reviews.

Then Mind Games with 4 and 1/2 stars and 45 reviews, also surprising
to me.

Rock and Roll with 24 reviews and 4 and 1/2 stars.

Double Fantasy - 4 stars with 73 reviews.

I realize there are more but I moved on to George's albums:

All Things Must Pass - 5 stars, 331 reviews!
Wow! I would never have guessed he surpassed any of John's albums at
amazon.com. Although, as time goes on, I do recognize this as being
perhaps THE best Beatles SOLO album.

Cloud 9 comes in at 5 stars but only 26 reviews.

LIving in the Material World (the original, the new one is not out
long enough yet to give enough stats) comes in at 4 and 1/2 stars with
51 reviews.

George Harrison comes in at 4 and 1/2 stars with 31 reviews.

Most shocking of all is that Brainwashed comes in at 4 and 12/ stars
with 229 reviews! Not that it isn't a great album, I just didn't think
it was that popular.

Okay, I'll do a couple of Paul's and then that's it! (Someone else can
do Ringo or more lp's if they find this interesting.)

McCartney (1st solo album) gets 4 stars with 132 reviews. I figured it
would surpass George but it did not.

Ram with 4 and 1/2 stars and 152 reviews. This reinforces my own
opinion of these 2 albums, though I would give Ram 5 stars. Though I
suspect Band on the Run or Venus will prove to be super popular, let's
see:

Band on the Run - 4 and 1/2 stars with 113 reviews.

Venus and Mars - 4 stars with only 37 reviews. This is very odd, to
me, that Paul has less reviews for these albums than John and George
have on their "best" albums. Maybe some others I'm not checking are
more popular...

WOW! Chaos and Creating has 421 reviews and 4 stars. Go figure.
Harrison still has him beat with 5 stars and 331 reviews, for ALl
Things, though.

"Ringo" has 4 and 1/2 stars with 69 reviews.

RingoRama has 4 stars with 73 reviews.

Okay, I know this was a total waste of time and proves I have too much
time on my hands. (Really, I do NOT!) I just got hung up on checking
how they compared after seeing how Live In N.Y. rated.

Barbara & Wim Meijnen & Kombrink...
Well, interesting stats indeed, but they mean little, I think. All
things must Pass was the best solo-Beatle-reissue ever, complete with
raving reviews (perhaps because it was on of the 'forgotten' releases)
in the music press. Brainwashed is an album wich yet has to prove the
same longevity. This list is by fans/buyers of the music; Sometime in
NYC is an album bought (I'd think) by people who like the album and
bought the cd-replacement (the same goes for Venus and Mars). In
official ratings SINYC would (rightly) score much lower.

DanKaye...
What it does mean, I think, is what people are buying and what people
think about what they are buying. I think amazon sales is a very good
guage of what is popular and what is selling, and the reviews are a
good guage of what the buying public like.

It does not a good guage of what is "GOOD" or "creative" or etc...
