Gary Parker...
Has anyone out there picked up the Anthology Director's Cut DVD's? If
'yes,' what's the verdict? Is there enough unseen, interesting stuff to
make it worth plunking down the $$??

Rango...
I found the set on eBay for around $50.00, which I felt was fair.

As for unseen stuff, I can only really remember a clip I hadn't seen
before of Lennon on Ready Steady Go (or some show like it) hanging out
with Helen Shapiro. Other than that maybe some stuff is edited
differently, or a segment might be a little longer than on the official
version.

The interest for me was seeing how the programs were initially
envisioned. Rather than the "Help!" opening which was eventually used,
the early programs have a really creepy composite of all four Beatle
faces starting each show. Also, the rapid edit ("Let's go back, back,
back...") bit that's in the first episode of the official version is
repeated at the beginning of the first few director's cut episode to
show highlights from previous episodes. There's also a really spotty
bit of animation showing the liver birds flying from Liverpool to
London. Little bits like that...

Keep in mind that the director's cut ends abruptly around "White
Album"/"Get Back" era.

Worth th $50, I think...
