Petition to have Ringo Starr Knighted (10 Downing Street official web site!)

The following petition, posted on 10 Downing Street official web site, is
open only to British citizens or residents. It was recently started up by
Daniel Finkelstein, journalist for the TimesOnLine and reads as follows:

His choosing to declare residency in Monaco explicitly to avoid paying taxes
to the Crown has sealed his fate to never be considered for the honour.

Mick Jagger was knighted despite being a tax exile.

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to recommend to the Queen
to confer a knighthood on Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey MBE)."

Ugh. That would suck. I've always considered it a black mark on Paul's
record for accepting such an 'honour' from one country's section of the
institutional authorities who have ruined the world. When they got the
MBE's, they didn't know any better. They certainly should by now.
