Lookingglass...
I think one of the best examples of the Lennon/McCartney relationship is the
STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER/PENNY LANE single... two sides of a single coin.

John expressed the world within him... Paul described the world around him.

John experienced... Paul observed.

John's song is about the individual... Paul's song is inhabited by many
people.

John questioned... Paul stated.

SFF is cluttered...chaotic and cacophonic. PL is primly structured and
'classical'.

...both songs are MAGNIFICENT.

It is my understanding that the Beatles designated Hello Goodby as the
A side and Walrus as the B side; I believe John was not completely
happy about that.

Well put.
I believe this was a so-called double-A side, yet I only recall Penny
Lane being played on the radio. I think SFF must have been deemed a
bit too odd by the BBC at the time (I think they were scared of hidden
meanings).
Anybody got any stats on radio plays for double-A sides? I also
suspect Day Tripper was played more than We Can Work It Out, and
Something was definitely played more than Come Together. Well, that's
the BBC for you ...
