John Doole...
The double-tracked 'acoustic' guitar, which opens 'Dear Prudence' sounds
like it has a piezo-electric pickup. Ovations with pickups weren't
commercially available till about 1970. Is it possible that The Beatles were
given a prototype to try, just like George Harrison's rosewood Telecaster on
Let it Be?

It sounds to me like at least one of the guitars is an electric, maybe

pens with a double

"direct injection."

John Doole...
There are lots of guitar parts on the song, but it opens with a double
tracked part using the same sound for each track. It has the classic
brittle, nasal tone of a DId piezo-electric pickup.

Salvador Astucia...
Did they double-track the part, or was John finger-picking? The bass
notes (on guitar) are playing the same notes, with a D tuning on the
low E string. It's the upper notes that are changing, which makes it
not that difficult to play. Is it possible John was still using his
Jumbo Gibson with a pickup on the sound hole?

John Doole...
It's John fingerpicking and double tracked. The same part played twice. It's
certainly not the sound of a magnetic pickup, DI'd or not. Much more like an
undersaddle piezo.
