Hey, it's the Stray Cats!

BTW... yes I'm doing this just for sheer passtime and a learning
experience using photoshop... I am not a professional.
.... if anyone is a professional out there please post your work using
the same original on thsi webpage... I'm sure we'd all be interested in
seeing how good a professional attempt would be.

Was that leather "look" that George, Paul, and John are sporting, their
look, or the look of the day in Hamburg?

Looks like Hamburg with an exi haircut.
I've got a book of photos called "Rock N Roll Times" by Jurgen Vollmer.
Half are pics of the beatles from the leather era and half are pics of
scene kids from the day with a tremendous amount of outfit description.
He said the beatles looked just like their audience of rockers with
black leathers and pointed shoes. Jurgen, Astrid and Klaus were exis
(art students) and wore black, but turtlenecks, corduroy jackets, suede
round toe boots, different type of leather and the no grease beatle
hair. George got the haircut but kept trying to grease it back when he
got funny looks from the rockers.

Is this the origin of the Beatles explanation of how they got the idea for
their hairstyle?
I remember early on, they explained that George went out swimming one day
and didn't have time to grease his hair. So he came to practice with it
shaggy and that was the origin of their hairstyle.
Now, it's obvious that was not the truth. But, I wonder if this version
came from the fact that George still greased his hair to hide the hairstyle.

The pic looks like the midway point when they still have the rocker
look but with the haircut and george not quite with the program.

I recall a quote from John that the leathers were inspired by Gene Vincent
and the James Dean look of the 50's. Just wondering if that was the way the
Beatles presented themselves, or if the scene in Hamburg was the leather
look and the Beatles dressed accordingly.

Nice job of colorizing, but one of the silliest photos of the early
Beatles I've ever seen. Artistic it ain't.
Cowboy boots????? LOL.

Now that one was actually pretty good.

For four English Lads living in Germany in the early spring, they look
quite tanned, wouldn't you agree?
