ghugle...
In other words did it establish where the real magic laid between the
two?(You'll haft to prove McCartney's last album before DF was better)

neptune...
What?
Are you asking if DF is better than McCartneyII?
A matter of taste, I suppose. I HATED DF when it came out...mostly
because of Yoko's...ummm.."contributions", but I'm not sure what your

terra...
Thats your opinion not fact. The fact is many of "todsays" music was
inspired by Yokos songs on Double Fantasy. At the time some didnt
appreciate her...today shes recognized as cutting edge. "Im Your
Angel" kis the original techno.

but I'm not sure what your

actual question is.

Jeff...
What was better with this album..than any of McCartney's?

ghugle...
13. Woman (3:29) : Great song, nice background vocals, nice music,
wonderful lyrics.

14. Losing You (4:00) : For some reason I just don't like this song...
it's not that bad though.

15. Beutiful Boy (4:02) : Wow what a beautiful song... Everything about

this is just perfect, very pretty and a great melody and some wonderful

lyrics like "life is what happens to you when your busy making other
plans".. this song was featured recently in the film "Mr Holland's
Opus"

16. Watching The Wheels (3:34) : Some of my favorite lyrics are in this

song.. it's just great... nice feeling to it, it works.. great song!

17. Dear Yoko (2:36) : A surprisingly fun song... nice to sing along

Dr. Strangemonde...
If the song was, say, "Dear Carol" and noone knew specifically who the
song was about, whaddaya wanna bet it would be more well-liked? As far
as MacII, I always kinda liked "Temporary Secretary" and the 10-minute
sorta experimental piano-loop track that was left off the LP, "Secret
Friend". I don't think it had any lyrics, though...

- Dr S

to... some nice rhyming lyrics... it works!

Even after all these years,
I miss you when your not here,
I wish you were here my dear Yoko,

Even if it's just a day,
I miss you when your away,
I wish you were here today dear Yoko,

Even if it's just one night,
I miss you and it don't feel right,
I wish you were here tonight dear Yoko,

Even if it's just an hour,
I wilt just like a fading flower,
Ain't nothing in the world like our love dear Yoko,

Oh Yoko!
I'll never ever ever ever gonna let you go,
Oh Yoko!
I'll never ever ever ever gonna let you go,

Even when I'm miles at sea,
And nowhere is the place to be,
Your spirit's watching over me dear Yoko,

Even when I watch T.V.
There's hole where your supposed to be,

BlackMonk...
Most of the lyric isn't anything more than it's supposed to be, a playful
Buddy Holly-ish song, but this is a really good line.

There's nobody lying next to me,

Oh Yoko!
I'll never ever ever ever gonna let you go,
Oh Yoko!
I'll never ever ever ever gonna let you go,

Even after all this time,
I miss you like the sun don't shine,
Without you I'm a one track mind dear Yoko,

After all is really said and done,
The two of us are really one,
The goddess really smiled upon our love dear Yoko.

Can you find one McCartney ll song that beats these lyrics?

DC...
I think you mean McCartney II.

fishandchips...
In answer to your subject..yes. IMO

fattuchus...
I like Double Fantasy, but would enjoy it more if it had fewer songs
from whats her face and more Lennon.

Many of the songs are very nice; lovely arrangements; good production,
etc. It also stands in stark contrast to Walls and Bridges which is
another good album.

Dale Houstman...
One doesn't have to prove anything of the sort: musical taste has some
degree of the subjective about it after all. McCartney II is no great

Amen.

McCartney II is no great

i think I covered that in my first sentence!

containing only a

couple of somewhat superior tunes ("I'm losing Her" and "Beautiful Boy"
perhaps) and WAY too much of Yoko's rather forgettable (and often
imitative) songs. McCartney II is a very slight production, a scribble

heard. The "hip" young kids of today love it.

End of frikkin story.

Nuff said.

Dale Houstman...
Not really. "hip" kids of the 80s loved "Gilligan's Island" reruns.
"Hip" ain't what it used to be: it mainly applies nowadays to arts lture
carrion birds who hang about the trash pile of culture, waiting to see
what sludge floats to the top. "Hip" isn't hip anymore.

Anyway, if you agree (as you appear to) that musical taste has at least
a degree of subjectivity in its makeup, then why would a bunch of
subjective opinions end the "frikkin story"? A large subjective pile is
no less subjective than a small subjective pile.

Lookingglass...
They are BOTH "subjective piles"...but of what? That is to be determined.

Dale Houstman...
That's a subjective conjecture at this juncture, objectively speaking.

Lookingglass...
Objection over-ruled!

Dale Houstman...
I must demure (demurely) over your over-ruling of my objection, when the
subject of my objection is (objectively) subject to correction if done
correctly, but not to objection done in mere rejection. You might
interject that my protection of my objection is mere misdirection, but
there is no seduction in a slight reduction of my redaction Jackson...

songs. McCartney II is a very slight production, a scribble

in fact, but mainly an enjoyable one, and with one beautiful tune
("Waterfalls" I think), at least one other "beautiful" melody in "One of
These Days," a certifiable hit in "Coming Up" and the odd bit of fun
scattered here and there. To argue whether it's better than Double
Fantasy is perhaps a fool's errand, but it's certainly no worse, and
(unlike Lennon's album) there is no attempt to paint it as another slab
of genius (which it ain't). It's strictly a homemade product, it sounds
like it, and - on that score - is fairly successful. Doubler Fantasy
disappointed me then, and disappoints me now.

F Parella...
Let's leave the Yoko songs out of this discussion, for obvious reasons.
I actually think the Lennon songs on DF are about equal to the songs
on McCartney II. Neither collection reflects the songwriter at his

best; and I'd say there's a demoish quality to both collections. Both
collections could have used a lot more work.

I think the version of "I'm Losing You" Lennon did with Levin & the
Cheap Trick guys was better than his DF songs or anything McCartney II.
