JohnB...
Discounting Ringo, who himself would probably admit is not a serious
songwriter, and also discounting Paul/Linda and John/Yoko, what other
collaborations have the Beatles made in their songwriting, and how
successful were they?

Off the top of my head:

crw59...
Paul and Wacko Jacko: The Girl is Mine..... sorry..

Craig
:

Runnnerr...
Ick!!! Arguably Paul's all time worst, all time cringe song.

The doggone girl is mine.

fattuchus...
Let's not forget Say Say Say.

Also, didn't he collaborate with Stevie Wonder . . . I forget the song.
It was on Tug of WAr.

Runnnerr...
"Ebony And Ivory" and "What's That You're Doing".

fattuchus...
Yes! Thanks.

I think Ebony and Ivory is a good song . . . nice analogy about racial
harmony..

George:
with Bob Dylan: I'd Have you Any Time
An absolutely gorgeous ballad, tenderly sung, great melody - how much
was George, how much was Bob?

godismycodependent...
George and David Bromberg--The Holdup

Paul:
with Elvis Costello: Veronica (and another, Pads And Claws?)
Great song. Turned out to be one of EC's most commercial tracks. Can't
remember the other one.

rforman61...
Paul's and Elvis' songwriting collaboration was much more extensive
than that! They cowrote about half of Paul's great Flowers in the Dirt
album, and a few tracks on its followup, '93's Off the Ground, and a
bunch of other songs besides Veronica that appeared on a couple of
Elvis' album from that period. I have two related bootlegs, the more
interesting one is called The McCartney-McManus Collaboration, features
demos and alternate takes of the songs that got released and some that
didn't. All together I would say their work amounted to one of the
highlights of Paul's solo career, some fantastic songs, and I wish they
had gone a lot further with it. "The Lovers That Never Were" is a big
favorite of mine, some high-level songwriting IMO. I also have
another bootleg where they perform some of their co-songs and a few
others including "One After 909," together live at some event. Pads
Paws and Claws is on Elvis' Spike cd I think, and they have tracks on
his Mighty Like a Rose album as well, again: I think.

Barbara & Wim Meijnen & Kombrink...
There's a nice version of "My Brave Face" of Paul & Elvis
together...it's played a bit faster
so it's more Costello-like in its sound. A pity they didn't release
this. In its approach this was the closest to the
Lennon/Macca-collaboration.

appeyroad...
========================

Good choice. I recall seeing the video of this performance in-studio.

It appears as though they had pretty muched finished the melody and
lyric, but final production was a wee bit away.

plus a few with Denny Laine for Wings

rforman61...
Yup, the wonderful "No Words," "I Lie Around" I think, a couple more on
London Town.

Runnnerr...
"Children Children" and "Deliver Your Children". And of course the
great "Mull of Kintyre". I think the Denny also cowrote "I'll Give You
a Ring"

John:
with Elton John: Whatever Gets You Through The Night
Not bad. How much was John, how much Elton?

Runnnerr...
Paul also worked a lot with Eric Stewart from 10CC in the 1980s. Theirs
was a very good collaboration.

rforman61...
Best solo John song IMO, but I didn't think it was cowritten, I might
be wrong, I thought it was all John's and Elton just performed on it
(and really added a lot of energy and sparkle to the record's sound).

Dimitrios Paskoudniakis...
Paul and Elvis (Declan MacManus):

Dimitrios Paskoudniakis...
Frank Sinatra's verse singing with Stevie:

You are black and I am white
You're as blind as a bat and I've got sight
Side by side you are my amigo, negro
Let's not fight

With Wacko, "The Girl Is Mine" is on Thriller, and "Say Say Say" is on Pipes
of Peace, along with "The Man".

Runnnerr...
Yes, that was a John solo composition, Elton played on it though.

fattuchus...
John Lennon wrote Whatever Gets You Thru the Nite; however they sang it
together.

TheBassMon...
Paul on drums, bass and backing vocal on Steve Miller's "My Dark Hour"

Runnnerr...
And Steve was on at least a couple tracks on "Flaming Pie".

Runnnerr...
And speaking of Steve Miller, if you enjoy his music, pick up the 30th
anniversary of "Fly Like An Eagle". I hadn't heard this album in about
20 years and had forgotten how great it is. It also has 3 bonus tracks
and there's a DVD in the package with nice docomentary about how the
album changed Steve's life and career as well as a complete kick-ass
show from 2005. Highly recommended.

MatFox...
where can I find it? There's no trace on Amazon.

Runnnerr...
Here you go. Enjoy it!

Joe B...
I have an awesome version of this album in 5.1 surround sound that I
donwloaded a few years back. Is the multi-channel version on this
30th Anniversary edition?

Runnnerr...
I believe that the 5.1 mix is on the DVD.

mattteo1963...
excellent, txs. I love Steve! .-)

Runnnerr...
Me too. I've never seen him live, but the concert on this DVD is a
smoker. I really enjoyed it a lot.

mattteo1963...
same for me! Just ordered, I will have to wait until it comes from the
US, though... :-)

fattuchus...
John also worked with Harry Nilson (Old Dirt Road and others)

Also, John co wrote Fame with DAvid Bowie and another gentleman. Fame
was Bowie's first #1 (I think)
