On My Sweet Lord or Give Me Love, how did George get that ringing lead
guitar sound?

Is it like the Byrds, who used a compressor?

At Concert for George, the two guitarists (Fairweather-Low and Marc
Mann) also got that same sound.

Nope. Double tracking does nothing for a bad sound..although it changes
it.
