Another Beatles download and another I have no background on. This song
is obviously live with Paul singing lead. A rocker. Anyone?

See the bootleg
Puttin On The Style
purportedly from New Years Eve 1962
Nancy...
|
Well that was the day they made the Decca audition tape.
donz5...
|
Well, no; the Decca audition was New Year's _Day_, 1962 -- January 1,
1962.
Nancy...
|
I looked. It said it may or may not be.
Nancy...
|
Here's more of what it said.
This has nothing to do with George Harrison composition of the same name.
This song is AKA Ramshackle Shake.
Supposedly performed by Kingsize Taylor & The Dominos in late December
1962 (according to the book "From Cavern To Star Club").
But it also states that John Lennon's July 1957 performance of Puttin on
the style at St Peter's Church Hall, Woolton was recorded. The day he
met Paul McCartney and is currently owned by EMI
I find this info incredible and hardly believeable. I have the
recording. I don't buy it.

What you buy or don't is rather irrelevant. The fact is none of these songs
were ever listed as being in the beatle canon, the bootlegzone lists them
all as being performed by Kingsize Taylor on the night in question. As to
the Woolton fete I cannot say.
Nancy...
|
No I haven't a problem with that they are not the Beatles. The problem
is the source. It may or may not be true. In one line they say it may or
may not be the Beatles and then in the next it states "supposedly". In
the end that states - they don't know at all and the source is irrelevant.

First taste of love sounds like the fabs.
But it could be someone else. Still has that McCartney solo voice in parts.
|
Nancy...
|
Well it's a good impression of Paul McCartney anyway.
|
Nancy...
|
Sounds like them.
Michael Blessing...
|
That may be, but it isn't.

Lewisohn shows no other involvn\ments featuuring the Beatles that day.
Actually shows no performance of a song called Beautiful Girl or My
First Taste of Love by the Beatles ever.
I could almost say that these are outfakes except that that I do hear
John and Paul on the recordings.
Nancy...
|
I see from the site quored that the date was dec 30 1962,
I find this iincredible though. Yes there was a Star Club appearence
that night. These sound too raw for that date.
Now I'm considering them to be fakes.

To do an outfake would be too much hassle.
Nancy...
|
If an undiscovered tape of early live Beatles was found. It could be
worth millions. Such is what Allen Williams found on his abandoned
office floor back in the 70's. That came out as multiple album sets of
the Beatles at the Star club. So if someone found more and better
quality tapes, the world would be appreciative even in a n historic
nature. So I don't think it would be a hassle at all to try and put one
over. Even the addition of the info to a book or website could generate

Hey, I agree with you. I'm just saying to go to the trouble for a band
to do an outfake would be too much off a headache in most cases..to
bother with. Trying to record, and then mix this
music as though it was done in 1962..would be hard enough...but trying
to get the Beatles lead
vocals...and backup vocals down..would be almost impossible. Band
members would have to have a huge amount of time on their hands.
It's doubful they could fool us fans..who've been listening to them
since 1962.
I do believe the outtake of "I Want you" though is no outfake. To my
ears..it's the Beatles with
Paul on Lead vocal. I can't tell for sure with
"I need you."
The Beatles music is the hardest of any band to imitate. Maybe not their
earliest work?

some loot.

ACankersore...

It's not a Beatles song..but it sounds like it.
It's George Harrsion off his 33 and a third album. I wish he would have
sang it better.
It's not a "rocker" in my opinion.
It sounds like Paul?
Nancy...

Actually sounds like one of the BBC era songs. Difinitely early.
It's live but I don't hear an audience. It was labled Beautiful girl.
It's got a late 50's sound. It may be this one.
Are you alright
Is there a light
Can you still hear me where you are
Are you so fine
That you can slip between the lines
You're such a Beautiful Beautiful Girl
You make the sky come down
You make the earth go round
You're such a Beautiful Beautiful Girl
And when you walk in the room
You make the winter bloom
You're such a beautiful Beautiful Girl
They want your soul
But you can float away
A flock of angels just above your head
Can hear your every sigh
And love you when you cry
You're such a beautiful Beautiful Girl
You make the sky come down
You make the earth go round
You're such a Beautiful beautiful Girl
And when you walk in the room
You make the winter bloom
You're such a beautiful beautiful Girl
You drive your daddy mad
You make your momma sad
You're such a beautiful, beautiful Girl
You make the wise unsure
You make the rich feel poor

Believe that is a Hoagy Carmichael song from the guy who made the subs
|
|
Nancy...
|
The one I have sounds like a Cavern club recording. It's a rocker. It's
not the George song and it's Paul doing his Long Tall Sally best.
