Harrison's "This song"

Anybody ever tried to play "this song" on the guitar? It's really a
lousy song..but it's one of a few songs where the production made it
good. Any opinions of this..or examples of other
lousy songs that were made good..by the production alone?

I haven't heard the demo either, and I know what you meant, but I did
play the chords on guitar...and it sounds like nothing that is very
good. Of course, George surrounded himself
with much better musicians than himself. He
even admitted that he played with much better musicians than the
Beatles..after their break up.
So..he probably wrote it on the spot..with Billy Preston near by...and
that would have been enough encouragement to continue on with the song.
Just my opinion though.

Why don't you just play it yourself, to find out?
You said you were going to. I can't play it for you on guitar, cause I
am on Webtv, which only allows me to put 30 seconds worth of music on at
a time..and the sound quality is very poor,
and you can't form an opinion in 30 seconds.

Are you going to play it on guitar or piano or not? I meant instead of
proving anything..that that "this song" doesn't sound well on a guitar
or piano by itself. I know I was talking about "proving it" but it was a
bad choice of words on my part..cause like you said.."proving it" would
be a matter of opinion. So..I take back my words. But I still say
"Something" is a more popular song..and that's proven by record sales,
and the fact that many artists have covered "Something" I can't find any
artists that have covered "This song" so far.

Ok, but just a guitar demo..or a piano demo alone with no
over-dubbs..and no production.
Can you do that?

Thanks, Jason, but I don't make Films, nor do I know the first thing
about it. My girlfriend works with disabled adults...and I wanted to
shoot some video footage of them...about this one guy having a
dream...about the other disabled adults...and they all do strange things
in the dream..that they wouldn't ordinairly do. You know, just silly
stuff..cause it would make them
all feel real good.

Problem is, this camera I have..has no over-dubbing capabilities..that I
know of, so I am just going to walk around with a cassette
player or whatever and/or have somebody else
play the music. Then I'll have to cop a laughing track on TV..and do the
same thing. It's going to suck..but to them, it's going to be one big
thrill
out of their lives....and the most important thing is..they'll enjoy
it..which is all that matters.
I know nothing about writing scrips..and even if I did, they aren't able
to memorize any of it, but that's the way it goes.

It is a good song with the production, but if you are a guitar
player...trying playing it...and you'll hear how lousy Harrison's guitar
demo would have sounded.

It has nothng to do with how well someone plays the guitar. Any
competent guitar player
who plays the chords properly..and who knows
the basics of playing guitar ( which I do) can
play the chords to "this song." This is not a putdown to you, but IF
you play guitar..you would know what I am talking about.

So because you judge yourself to be a competent guitar player, you're
albe to judge that the demo for this song, if there was one, is lousy

movie about some disabled adults..which will take up quite a bit of

Ok, forget about me, and my guitar skills. Listen to someone you respect
as a guitarist..and have them play "This song" on the guitar..and form
your own opinion. If that doesn't help, I don't know what to tell you.
