JohnB...
On the back of the one-note thread, I was wondering which song from the
Beatles catalog has the greatest range, i.e. greatest difference
between the highest and lowest notes used in the vocal melody,
discarding falsetto sections.

Off the top of my head I can think of John's "I'm So Tired" which I
think stretches almost two octaves. I have sung it in my time but that
last phrase - "I'd give you everything I've got for a little piece of
mind" - is a bit dodgy :-)

ian...
Middle C# up two octaves.

Anything go further than that?

ian...
"Happiness", G below middle C up two octaves and a fifth to D.

"Don't Let Me Down", middle C# up two octaves and a fifth to the G#'s
in the outro (but G#s are falsetto).

Rocket Scientist...
What about Paul's ending to Hey Jude where he sings "better, better,
better, ... better, ah!"

As I recall, that's going from low to pretty darn high. I didn't check
the actual octaves though.

ian...
From E above middle C up two octaves and a semitone to F.

Chocolate City, baby...
God Bless America!
"From the mountains...to the prairies...to the oceans..."

There's range for ya.
