What Paul should do next

Robert...
Now that the European tour has been postponed, Paul should go back to
the drawing board and tour Chaos. I mean, properly tour it. None of
this "big show / crowd pleasers / lets-all-sing-hey-jude-again" stuff,
but a proper tour of an album like any artist would do. Get the band
in, sit behind the piano and go for it. Of course, encore with some
Beatles favourites or solo hits, but at least play 70% of the last
album.

I think there'd be an audience for it, as the majority of the reviews
for Chaos were positive, and both singles and album performed well on
the charts. I certainly would love to see this kind of show. Indoor
shows at that, even the odd smaller venue. It would certainly position
Paul as an artist relevant in today's music scene (as the album has
done IMO) and would prevent the whole Rolling Stones-style greatest
hits trap that most mature artists fall into.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Sir Paulie to do anything but a
(mostly) Beatles show in any concert setting for the rest of his life.
Who knows what Sir Paulie thinks? In his mind it might just be The
Beatles up there. The Stones tour with only 3 original band members,
The Who with two. So what if The Beatles tour with just one member and
some guys backing him up? It's still The Beatles, right?

I'd be thrilled if Sir Paulie never played another Beatles song in
concert again. If he feels the need to do so though, I wish he'd retire
the must-do classics that he does every show and sing some others which
arguably are just as classic. "Please Please Me" on the last tour was a
good start in this direction.

And the reason Paul performed it on his last tour is because he ran
into Keith Richards in St. Bart's and Keith urged Paul to play that
song in concert.

Runnnerr...
Yes, that song has always been one of Keith's favorites.

there's actually a boot with keef playing a
VERY short version of PPM

i thought paul should do something
like what the stones did - but with a twist

play an arena show one night -
then a theater show the next night -
a solo career only show -
and make it expensive ($250)
so that more true fans can get tix -
people were walking out halfway
thru the (cheap) stones theater show
while true fans were crying outside

(ok - start disagreeing below)

I've accepted that he's going to change very little if anything in his
set-list from show to show. Most big acts- Clapton, The Who, The Stones
play all or mostly the same songs from show to show. The Stones tend to
mix it up a bit. I don't think that Clapton changes at all and The Who
pretty much tend to stick with one set list although I think that
they've at least changed the running order a bit from show to show on
this tour.

Sir Paulie needs to cut down on the between song chit-chat, giving us
his version of Beatles' history after each song. It really slows the
pace of the show. He also needs to realize that there are people who
see him more than once on a tour and sticking to the same tired script
of that between song chit chat doesn't help him. If he's going to talk
between songs, he should talk then and not recite from a memorized
script.

Of course, none of this will happen, but at least I've given my fingers
a good typing workout here. :-)
