I've said it before but I feel compelled to say it again:
The "Lennon Legend" DVD is a work of art, a fantastic music dvd.
First of all, the sound of it, in 5.1 is amazing. It is so clear and
bright and the surround aspect was done just right.
Then there are the songs which they added little pieces to, like at
the end of some songs, and remixed to the point that they sound
slightly different than the originals. Very good decision making here!
Excellent choices of how to make a song sound fresh without making any
basic or objectionable changes to the song itself.
The video editing is fantastic. As an editor I can appreciate the
hundreds of hours of tape and film they had to go through, log it
carefully, and then meticulously go through to choose 1-5 second shots
to go in specific places. And how hard it was to fill that long
instrumental and screaming part of "Cold Turkey".
If you watch many of the videos carefully you will see what I mean.
Like they found specific pieces of film where it looked kind of like
John was saying a line of a song, even though he wasn't saying that,
or where his facial expression was just right for that spot. I'm sure
it was a labor of love, for someone, because you can see the joy that
was brought to it even though it was very hard work.
The choice of songs and order of songs is great, too. Okay, maybe not
"perfect" but "perfect enough".
I think what they did (How much of a hand did Yoko have in all this?)
with Happy XMas was brilliant, heartfelt, and beautiful. Make yourself
watch it, think about it, feel it, let it sink in. John would have
loved it, I am sure.
I could point out a few things I don't like about "Lennon Legend", but
I won't, because hey it was just John's birthday, and there is no need
to complain about such an overall great dvd, in any case.
At the risk of sounding more like a commercial for this dvd than I
already have, let me say in closing that if you are even a minor John
Lennon fan, THIS is the collection to have, and if you don't have a
5.1 surround sound system, this is a worthwhile excuse to get one!

True, the songs sound great.
Dabbling in video editing, I can oly imagine how hard it was to put all
those pieces together!
However, Yoko just HAD to put herself in almost every video. I don't
know why (ok, I do...I can't stand her) but it ruins the visuals for me.
