Hello Beatles-fans-who-are-also-guitarists,

Have any of you compared the Hal Leonard "Beatles - Complete Scores"

with "The Beatles Complete Chord Songbook"

I'm wondering whether both books use the same guitar chords for each
song. I'm leaning towards getting the Chord Songbook because that's all
I really need, but I'll spring for the bigger "Scores" book if you tell
me that the chords it uses are truer to the way the Beatles originally
played 'em.

You would be better off to learn music by ear.
Most of these books have all the chords all wrong anyhow.

Seth Jackson...
Yes, but these books are known for having most of the chords right. I
recently got the Chord Songbook, and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Hi Frank... I can't answer that question as I don't have a copy of the
COMPLETE CHORD SONGBOOK... I DO however have a copy of the COMPLETE SCORES
(great book)... the blurb on the cover states "full transcriptions from the
original recordings".

I can only imagine that Mr Leonard did his "best" to transcribe what he
heard onto paper. This would seem to indicate that he had to use his
"musical" sense of judgment rather than an absolute indication of the
"correct" chording.

Speaking for those of us who grew up trying to learn the songs from
various books back in the '70's – if it's in the right *KEY* you are
miles ahead of where we were.
Gotta love books that have guitar songs written out in Eb...

I have to say that I like having the COMPLETE SCORES because it allows me to
then "re-arrange" the music to my liking, having all the parts written
down... then I can pick and choose from the written score what I want to
incorporate in my arrangement.
