So Yoko tosses in an unreleased version of "How Do You Sleep" for the
upcomming soundtract to the John Lennon Vs U.S. Government motion
picture for a lark.

how sweet of her !

I agree I don't think it was nice that Paul played Too Many People (but
I don't know if I would label him pompous.)

However, as far as the movie John Lennon vs. the US, isn't the song
merely an instrumental? I mean, if the song is merely an instrumental
version of How Do You Sleep and the lyrics are gone, so what?

that's the genius of it !

I seem to remeber reading that they stripped some songs of the vocal(s), so
that all the music, including the backgroundmusic, would be John's.
Of course that would mean that the meaning of the unsung lyrics, would be
recognized by those who know them, and could be interpreted as having a
relation to what happens on the screen, beyond the mood of the music. Since
I haven't seen it yet, don't know when it's coming out in Denmark, I'll have
to wait and see for myself.

I suppose I could respond to you with "you disgust me" but I will bite
my tongue.

I don't think an instrumental version of a song would necessarily have
the same meaning as one with the lyrics. I guess we would have to see
the context of the movie . . . . But some people seeing the movie
might not be big Lennon fans and may not know the song.
