Long and Winding Road - mistakes

Ian MacDonald's book points out at least six mistakes in the song.
They are all or mostly bass mistakes by John (as Paul was playing the
piano). The one at 0:28 is very obvious but it sounds like a piano
note that was cut off in the middle.

Can you hear the other mistakes?

ACankersore...
No. John plays bass as to what the song requires IMO. There's not much
else he could have played without over-playing the bass, and ruining the
song. John plays all the right notes.
This issue has been discussed into the ground, but nobody ever says what
they expected him to play. It's just a simple song that didn't require
much from John.

abe slaney...
I think his playing is underrated.

BlackMonk...
Do the lyrics count?

Mel Torment...
Irrelevant, IMO. MIstakes are in the eye of the beholder. John
obviously wasn't a bass player, and possibly didn't care anyway.

At least the bass wasn't quantized to 'perfection'. Aah, those were the
days...

Barbara & Wim Meijnen & Kombrink...
But I agree with the McDonald-reading of the subject; why the hey was
John playing half-baked glissandi ?!? He could've just played some
root-notes and kept it simple.

Robert...
Why did Macca do those silly glissandi in the coda of IWY(SSH)? Totally
took the bottom out of that part of the song!

ACankersore...
How much simpler could he get, than what he played? Me thinks quite a
few here don't have any ear for music whatsoever..and they are just
copying what other people have said..to be part of this
conversation..and to knock a song..and John for no other reason.

If you had to all rely upon your own words..and your own comments about
this song..you couldn't come up with an original opinion on your own at
all. It's that obvious to me. Here's a clue: Know something about what
you're talking about before you enter a conversation..or sooner or
later...you'll come off looking like a fool, with no content to back up
your statements.

I am not a professional musician, so I can't really hear the
"mistakes." HOwever, IMHO The Long and Winding Road is not a
particularly good song no matter what Paul, Phil Spector or anyone does
with it. It just doesn't have the usual beautiful melody that Paul is
famous for.

Face it, you're deaf.

fattuchus...
But I can hear you clearly. I'm not deaf . . . . I just think it is a
monotonous song.

Long and Winding Road
It's a lovely song!
Not very well recorded ...

I think the best relased version-so far-is the Anthology version.
There are some outtakes fram apple studios that are better
you can actually hear Paul making the lyrics.

The LIB version is too heavy...so is Broad Street..
It's a simple song written with Ray Charles in mind(in his style)...
