Andrew Kirschner...
* On "Michelle", what sort of instrument is played in the break? It
sounds like a bass to me, but I suppose it could be low notes on a
guitar.

Some Other Guy...
Definitely a guitar.

bawi...
In Ian MacDonalds Revolution in the Head it's mentioned as a sped-up
bass-solo.

tom...
"Revolution in the Head" has a great forward section about music in the
60s, but don't rely on it for tech info.

The break in "Michelle" is a guitar. The tone knob is set to bass...

* Does the sitar also appear on "Girl" at the end? It sure sounds like
it.

Some Other Guy...
Two guitars (John and George) in unison.

bawi...
It's a bouzouki, a greek lute-like instrument, I think

* Norman Smith has been a lot less forthcomming with his production
tricks than Geoff Emerick, whose book (while a gem IMHO) at times seems
to grandstand a bit. Does anyone else think the drums may have had a
little close-miking (if not the whole fairchild limiter treatment) on
acouple of tracks, namely "Girl" and "In My Life".

Some Other Guy...
I dont think they closed miked any drums until Revolver sessions.

Danny Caccavo...
There is some evidence that there might be an actual bazouki on that
track.
