Ever hear a better whistle solo than on Lennons' "Jealous Guy" ?

Who could forget "The High and the Mighty" and "The Bridge Over the
River Kwai" theme songs?

The Andy Griffith Theme

oh, and the Leave it to Beaver theme, I think...or am I only imagining
it being whistled?
fattuchus...

I can't help you there, abe. Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith were
before my time . . . . .
abby...
|
They were way before my time too, but they've been in re-run syndication
since I can remember.

I think so, Abe.

Hold on. There's this version, too. Sorry.

There's the Harlem Globetrotters theme that puts every other solo
whistler to shame. :)
Chris Jepson...
|
That's "Sweet Georgia Brown", right?
terra...
|
Yeah, the Bones Brothers. Great tune too.
Matthew W. Miller...

You got it backward, heh.
Brother Bones and His Shadows:

Yes, that certainly sounds more correct, I was going purely on memory.

Yes, that was a good one! Unfortunately, I was around then. It seems
like 100 years ago.

John on Two of Us is pretty good. I also like John's whistle on his
demo of Real Love. (the instrumental)

Then there was Roger Whittaker - I think the single was called "The
Mexican Whistler" around about 1965 or so. I remember trying to
imitate that when I was young.
There was also "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman" by Whistling Jack Smith in
Lookingglass...
|
That title always intrigued me...anyone know what it refers to...?

More than you probably wanted to know about the song (and told much better
than I could have done) is here:
except for the fact that the Mike Sammes Singers are not the parents of the
chanting singers on "I Am The Walrus", but are in fact the actual chanters.
Nice that there's a Beatles tie-in too.

How absolutely wonderful!!! Thank you Saki. Isn't the internet fantastic.

1967, not such a classy performance but catchy.
You don't hear people whistle as much as you used to, do you?
Lookingglass...
|
I believe there is also an old tune THE WHISTLER... a very 'jaunty' tune
indeed.

No . . . . now they have I pods!

Don't know or care if it's "better," but on tour last year, Paul
McCartney whistled what was, on the record, an instrumental solo that
was played on some kind of penny-whistle on his new song "English Tea,"
and it was pretty impressive, I thought.

There is some great whistling on "Sukiyaki" by Kyu Sakimoto.
