I love The Beatles, I really do. But no. They are not my favourite
band. There is too much of their output that I prefer not to listen to.
Mostly from before Rubber Soul, before they became the expansive and
experimental force of the latter Beatles. I understand you can't have
one without the other, and that they opened the door for other bands to
be eclectic and experimental, but no, not my favourite.

They also weren't my first band (or the first band I connected with),
and that is possibly part of the appeal for a lot of people.

I reckon they are. I listen to all sorts of music in all genres, and -
believe me - there are plenty of delights out there to be had still. But
none which had the impact of the Boys. They were the nexus of so much
that went before them and which came after.
