Actually I admit I cheat, using only the three string shape, I don't do the
F# or G# pinky move either. I just don't play the bottom 3 strings.

And it slides quite nicely up to F, G and A as well. :)

I sometimes think that cheating is the genius of many things. Using
this chord form with only three strings, I inverted the chords from
Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay" and came up with one of the coolest rock songs I
ever came up with.

Trouble is with the words.

Play Laddie Play? :)
Sorry if this had been asked before but I couldn't find a reference to
any such thread. My question has to do with the various song
books/fake books showing the chords for Beatles songs but not the
actual chords played. For example, in All My Loving the chord
progression is given as:

F#m, B7, E, C#m, A, etc.

and shown as first position chords. In reality (based on watching
Lennon in videos), the E is played up the neck (in first position C
form), the C#m and A also up the neck as standard barre chords. So one
can learn the actual chords from videos or experimenting but I'm
wondering if there are books that show the ACTUAL chords that were
played. Internet searches also turn up the first position chords.
Thanks for any insights.
