Runnnerr...
Aside from the great music of both of these bands, I really admire them
for staying broken up once they announced that they would no longer be
playing together.

Seth Jackson...
Cream is currently playing together.

Slip Kid...
Or The Allman Brothers Band?

Um, sorta, kinda, together - - - > Gregg and brother Duane Allman?
(Duane died in October, 1971.)

1. The Allman Brothers
2. Idlewild South
3. Fillmore (Live)

Frank from Deeetroit...
Fillmore Live is one of the best albums of rock music ever. The Allmans
played a ton of shows before Duane died. How long were Cream together?
Around 3 years? They spent virtually all of their time on the road playing
during their time together. I bet both bands played close to the same
amount of gigs during the same amount of time with their original line-up.

4, Eat a Peach (Duane dies, '71)

They kept going and going and....

They must have more dates under their belt than Cream...

I admire that!

Yes, there were the few one off gigs- The Anthology for The Beatles and
Live Aid, Atlantic's 40th anniversary and maybe one or two other times
that Zeppelin played together after 1980, the recent Cream reunion and
the Hall of Fame in 1993 (?) but otherwise, unlike most (or every)
other big name band, none of them had a revolving door of band members
and endless reunion tours.

I can't think of other bands at the top level that these are at who
have not had many new members.

I think that it quite admirable in many ways that they break up and
stay broken up.
