I saw a film where John was sitting on the toilet and talking. (I'm
not kidding)
However I don't know about John sitting on the toilet while singing.

Yoko did do an "art piece" called "toilet piece" which I believe
involved a flushing toilet. But I don't know if she was singing at the
same time it flushed.

I believe that the classic "Toilet Piece" is on the equally classic
"Fly" album. I can't tell if it's a toilet flushing or Yoko singing.
Is there a difference? Either way, it's a classic.

Perhaps she was thinking of John's career.

I don't think it is so strange. If you read Larry Kane's wonderful
book Lennon Revealed, you would see that John was very shy about
performing whereas Paul loved being in front of an audience. I guess
their personal likes and dislikes continued after the Beatles broke up.

Kane recalls that before a Beatles show, John would get terrible stage
fright and even back in 1964 or 1965, would "reinforce" himself at
times with pills. Sad. Once John was on stage he was OK.

John, sadly, was also a heavy smoker. I sometimes wonder if the gum
chewing kept him distracted from craving a cigarette.
