Got the regular no-frills stereo version today.
I really like it...an aural tapestry...but it's mainly a novelty which
could grow tiresome after awhile. For now, it's new, sparkling, and
exciting. Glad it was in the hands of people who were part of The
Beatles' family, and sanctioned by Paul and Ringo, and the estates of
John and George.
Liked the "mashed" ones better than the longer versions of individual
songs towards the end of the disk.
Made me realize how great it would be if the entire catalog were
remastered and remixed.

I bought the DVD on Saturday and it really does sound amazing in 5.1. I
actually prefer the full original songs...they sounded so good that I
didn't need the mashups to keep my interest. I thought the collages were
mildly interesting...some better, some worse, but almost incidental to
the project. As has already been mentioned, with a couple of exceptions
they're mostly droney, textural transitions between songs. I had a
problem in that I kept hearing things in the songs that I hadn't heard
before, but I wasn't sure if they were collage effects or actually in
the original mixes.
What I haven't tried yet is comparing the CD to the DVD on the same system.

You have no idea how great it is unless you hear the 5.1. Not kidding,
the stereo is just a novelty, but the 5.1 is a neon light pointing to
hopefully future releases.

I have no equipment that will play 5.1, and probably won't for awhile,
so stereo will suffice for me.
btw, by "novelty", I meant that it was a one of a kind event...that
there won't, and probably shouldn't be another attempt at mashing up
songs.
Let them do the whole catalog for crying out loud.

Well, this "novelty" is truly an exciting album, especially in 5.1
I, for one, can't stop listening to it.
I keep hearing new things in the mixes each time I listen!
