Another "WHAT IF"

BrianQ...
Although I do still get a kick out of Wonderwall,
the solo Beatle albums prior to the official breakup
are all lightweight.

They were obviously more serious about their solo releases
afterwards.

George and John, at least, expressed feelings
of being limited by being Beatles.

My "what if" is this:

What would have happened if they felt
free enough to do whatever they wanted on solo
projects without disbanding The Beatles?

What if, (after McCartney, POB, and ATMP,
which seem to be perfect showcases for their
individual needs at the time,)as circumstances allowed,
they agreed that they would
continue to do records together?

JOHN: "I got a couple of good numbers I saved for the band."

GEORGE: "The thing is, when? I want to tour
my record before going back in the studio."

PAUL: "Just say when, fellas. BTW, you both used
some great people on your records. I like more of a 'band' feel though.
I'm gonna keep some steady players with me, like another band"

GEORGE: "You should do whatever you want. I mean, that's
the point, isn't it?"

PAUL: "Who's gonna take care of Rich?"

GEORGE: "He'll be alright. Once he gets out of bed,
he'll be two hairdressers."

JOHN: "I'm takin Yoke on vacation. I'll ring you up
when I get back."

PAUL: "Alright"

Eventually, they all used their past as Beatles to help keep
their solo careers moving. It was good being Beatles, after all. It
also seems they all felt that sooner or later they would play together
again. So what if, after realizing in late 1980 that they waited too
long, they had the chance to go back to 1970 and do things differently.

Say it was 72 or 73 before they fell together again and did a record.
Free As A Bird (yes, I know it wasn't even written yet) would make
an even better opening track for that album.

After the smashing success of the 'comeback' album,
I really would have loved to see them do an oldies album,
relaxed, like the LIB sessions, but finished and produced.
No writing involved, just playing. It would have been fun for them,
fun for us, and would diffuse the sense of pressure mounting
for them to crank out product like the old the days.

Follow that with a RINGO album w/ just a little
more John Paul and George involvement,
with some Lennon/McCartney throwaways as B sides the singles.

Yeah, I think by 1975 it could have been real fun for them to still be
Beatles

You get a B+ for creative writing.
