where is the best place to get original lps? I am hoping to find a good
version of Beatles 65 - where the album cover is in great shape and the
record is playable. Thanks.

One might try a used record store.
Waldo...

Or a brand new record-store with lots of old records. :)

Or an abused racket-store with lots of old rickets.

Garage sale season will soon be upon us. Those are often good places to
pick up old records.

Sometimes, but I find that the pickings have dropped off sharply since
the mid-90s... back then everyone was getting rid of their collections;
now, it seems the few people who still have LPs mostly want to keep
them. There are still good finds if you're diligent, but finding a copy
of Beatles '65 at a garage sale with the cover "in great shape" as the
OP specified will be tough... generally, garage sales are best if you
have omnivorous tastes and don't care too much about condition; not so
good if you're looking for a specific record.

Some people out there have got the impression that old Beatles vinyl is
collectable. I was at a car-boot sale (UK-readers will know that term)
last autumn and some girls at a stall next to me were asking =A320 for a
copy of Beatles Love Songs, a double vinyl LP. They didn't get it.
What people fail to realise in this is that the Beatles were very
popular. This means that they sold an awful lot of records, so there's
almost nothing that's *rare*. I also saw a local charity shop asking
=A320 for a copy of Sgt Pepper on vinyl when the sleeve was a bit worse
for wear and the internal cut-out sheet was missing. They didn't sell
that either.
Probably the most collectable item I have is a copy of Happy Christmas
(War Is Over) on green vinyl - but even that's probably not very rare.
Or maybe my Magical Mystery Tour EP in original gatefold booklet sleeve
might be worth something - but maybe not. I'm not selling anyway.
Anybody got some real experience of the second hand market?

I once spent the better part of the summer looking for a place to buy a
second hand. Then I realized I already had one...

Reminds me of Beyond the Fringe's Peter Cook/Dudley Moore Tarzan sketch.
