Slip Kid...
I can do some more homework but I bumped into something and don't know
if anyone is interested.

You know about 'Rēturn to Pēpperland' - a song Paul wrote and recorded
in '87 to commemorate the 20 years ago today of Sgt. Pēpper.

I think that's close?

sequentially...
I think you are confused, and are refering to a
boot with that name. It's not a song. It's the name of a CD boot that
has George Martin
mostly talking to Paul? It's more of a commentary by Martin. Martin

Slip Kid...
Nope...not same, same...

poisoned rose...
No...there's a 1987 outtake called "Return to Pepperland."

It's not bad at all. I have a mp3 of it -- it's the only
solo-McCartney bootleg recording I've bothered to collect.

Long song, about exactly five minutes (a little *too* long,
actually). Some nice, tricky chord changes. McCartney's typical
music-hall "bounce" a la "When I'm 64" and "Admiral Halsey," but a
bit gentler. Slightly crunchier in the middle.

At around 3:54, a counterpoint backing vocal comes in and makes the
song sound *eerily* similar to what XTC was doing around the same
time (Skylarking, Oranges & Lemons).

discusses and
plays songs from the SGT Pepper album. In some cases, he goes through
the tracks of a song..where all you can hear is a bass, the organ etc,
etc.

Slip Kid...
Confused?
Me?

Gullible, yes.
But it's also possible that there is more than one recording floating
around with that name.
We are not referring to the same "thing", though they seem to be related
as the time frame is correct ('87).

FTR, I did not hear an interview, commentary or anything which could be
called anything but a 'song'.

The reason I know this, is because I own it, but
in the past..you've stated you think it's illegal to
own this stuff..so I let you have your way. No
point in arguing with somebody who isn't interested..when I know better.

Slip Kid...
There isn't anything to argue about. See, I'm discussing it.

Produced by Phil Ramone, too?

sequentially...
No

Slip Kid...
As we are referring to something completely different (except in name?)
I'll have to get confirmation on what I heard. The post was to elicit
more info.
My level of confidence was high, I don't know enough so sought some help
here. That's the reason for the question marks - - I was/am "I'm I
close?", and as you're describing something different I am confused!

Never released?

sequentially...
Not to my knowledge. It might be played on
something like "Breakfast with the Beatles."

Well, I heard there was only one known copy and it was less than great.

sequentially...
It's interesting.but after you've heard it a couple of times....

I, um, heard one 'version' that is dang nice so I wonder why the story
about 'only one bad version' persists.

sequentially...
One copy exists? That's a joke. Alot of people own it. It's not that
hard to find..if you know where to look. Sorry. I'm not trying to come
off as a wise guy or somthing.

Slip Kid...
Bad grammar. I meant that I heard there was only a single 'original'
copy (and that version was nasty) but the example I heard was better
than OK. Again, we may be speaking of two different items as I'm not
referring to "Martin/commentary/.

It may best if I don't reveal too much more to the world, but if anyone
knows more it would be nice to share it.

sequentially...
I've told you all I know about it. You can e-mail me if you'd like.

Slip Kid...
See, I wasn't unwilling to discuss it.

Let me see if I can be cleared up at my end & I'll report back.

Lookingglass...
I'm curious Slip...

Slip Kid...
That's not good.
Best to feign knowledge and be aggressive.
Too late now...continue.

"It may best if I don't reveal too much more to the world..."

Why? It would only be an opinion.

Slip Kid...
Oh, I get it!
No, 'reveal' would have to do with "it". I'm not sure if I'd want a
road map to "it" posted under my name.
A link, if you will.

Thanks Slip.

Slip Kid...
You're welcome.
But if I didn't have an answer, I'd make one up.
