Planning a Trip to Liverpool - Any Suggestions?

Hey Group,

I'm going to Liverpool for the first time at the end of September '06.
Since I don't know if I'll ever get back, I want to see as many Beatle
significant places as I can. I know that I'll have to take the
National Trust Tour to see John and Paul's homes and many Liverpool
tour agencies will take you to the other homes, school, and venues.
What I need to know is what else should be on my list. Musts or busts?
Has anyone been there and could share their experiences about sites,
shops, bars, restaurants, accommodations,or best tour package?
