RAGS...
For Pluto

by R.A.G. Seely

Lizz Holmans...
Entity impersonating Robert Seely:

You poetry is really pretty bad stuff. Your scansion is without rhythm

RAGS...
"Bad"? That is quite subjective and many would strenuously disagree.
And can "bad" even be defined?

Dale Houstman...
Sure: anything like this poem.

People have weird notions about art, as if it were completely distinct
from other acts of creation. If someone said they were building a chair,
and the finished product was not able to support a person's weight
without shattering, we could say it was bad. No argument, except from
certain nihilists.

A "poem" which pretends to rhythm and rhyme and fails to pull off either
is bad.

In more abstract and "free" poetry, judgement can be rendered on the
basis of the use of metaphorical structures, splendor of images, and
verbal wit. Again, this poem is bad.

It is simply a failure.

Once, back when I used to squander my lunch hours in hopes of finding
"nourishment," I had a bowl of Taos green chile that was bad. Bad not
because it was green (the color, it is said, of some of our
extraterrestrial visitors) nor because it was made from a recipe made
famous in New Mexico - the site of the Roswell Incident of the 1940's.
No; this chile was "bad" because it was too spicy (as our beloved Ringo
said of the cuisines and curries of India, home of Maharishi) and gave
me indigestion. I was quite distracted and unable to concentrate on
arcane concerns for some hours...

Which brings up another question: What is time, anyway? Darn it, I'm
just about out of time. For now...

in some places, changing frequently during the same stanza. Your rhyme
scheme is flat, repetitive, predictable, and too dependent on slant
rhymes. This is usually a sign of sloppy writing.

I am not failing this solely because it was turned in. As for your
grade point, it actually may have been better if you'd simply told me
'The dog ate it.' But do not try the 'channelling William MaGonagal'
excuse again.

Lizz 'Please do not see me after class' Holmans

They say you're not a planet
How can they be so cruel?
I cannot understand it
All scientists are fools

A "dwarf" is what they deem you
What dwarf could loom so large?
With naked eyes I see you
As bright as any star

Scientists can't judge your worth
They know not what is good
You've a right as great as earth's
To enter planethood

One day you'll be rewarded
Some time they'll understand
The life that you've supported
Is proud as any man

Bernie Woodham...
The status of Pluto
as a planet, is psuedo.
