A recent poster made the comment that the Beatle songs were more like
nursery rhymes...
In thinking about this, there is certainly a very limited and innocent point
of view in the Beatles lyrics... but it was a much more limited and innocent
time for society in general then. But the lyrics also became more
sophisticated later in their career and they spoke about many things in the
context of the songs... some straight-ahead lyrics and some playful/obscure
lyrics with references to all manner of opinions...
"...he went out tiger hunting with his elephant and gun...in case of
accidents he always took his Mum...he's the All-American-bullet-headed-Saxon
mother's son..."
...what's this song about...?

It's about the irony of the title line- happiness is a warm gun. Ironic
because a warm gun indicates that one has just shot something. Is that
something to be happy about?

That irony shattered by the title: "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill"
|
Another interpretation could be the happiness that John felt when he
shot off into Yoko. I don't know anyone who doesn't feel happy after an
orgasm. They're pretty cool.
