There's no doubt that George Martin was the best guy for producing
beatles records that they could find, or viceversa. Many producers
ruins great songs by getting into it too much instruments, too much
vocal harmony or whatever. But i think Martin had always great sense of
music with beatles songs... but he did fail in a couple of songs. The
overproduced GoodNight is the first to come to my mind. It's a simple
song, in a lullaby way that didn't deserve such a full score that
Martin wrote. I can think too in Macca songs like Got To Get You Into
My Life, Good Day Sunshine, Lovely Rita, Martha My Dear.. never liked

None of those songs were over=producted, and the first 2 songs were
McCartney's idea. "Good
Day Sunshine" over-produced? LOL

that jazzy arrangement with all those brass sections. The semi acoustic
version of Got To Get... is pretty good, i'd really like to hear that
song in a minimalistic arrangement.

I believe I read that John purposely wanted "Goodnight" to be produced
"over the top".

Oh Shurrup! It's The Beatles!

Every song you mention is a great example of Martin's work. Martin was
a key element in the success of the Beatles.
