What on earth is wrong with that photo?!?!

Given that the Beatles message is often quoted as being "love", there
seems to be quite a bit of grouchiness on this NG.

You might want to try using a more realistic skin tone -- perhaps add a
gradient, or some shading. The way it looks now, it's very unrealistic

My dear man, he hasn't done ANYTHING to the skin tone on this photo,
it's the plain monochrome. -B.E.

The skin may be "monochrome" ... but he did add some sort of a color
tint to it. It looks like some sort of a washed-out cream color. My
point was simply that it does not look at all like natural skin.
