Two things. Anybody got any words about the drumming on "Instant
Karma". The rolls and crashes are so cool. While watching Ed Sullivan
DVD's I noticied Ring's spare sticks stuck on the bass drum. A need for
a spare or different weights?

Same weights, spare sticks.
When one breaks or goes flying while playing you have to be able to grab

Ringo was certainly absorbed by the R&R Demon at DC! I still tuck a
couple of sticks through the tension rods on my bass drum cuz I think
it looks kewl. Got the idea from Dino Danelli of the Rascals.

You want to know if "Ring's spare sticks" are spare sticks?
Am I following you?

Ringo played on "Instant Karma"? If so, this is the first I've heard
about this.

He didn't. And if you hear about it again, he still didn't.

Drummer was Alan White. Read the previous postings here!

Ringo did not play drums on Instant Karma. It was Alan White, who also
drummed on "Cold Turkey" and several other of John's early solo
recordings as part of the "Plastic Ono Band". He also played drums on
Harrison's All Things Must Pass album, including the single "My Sweet
Lord".

And of course, while we're listing the man's credits, with a little
band called Yes!

No, that was Andy White.

rforman61 was correct. Alan White was also the drummer for Yes!. He
joined the group in 1972, and has played on every Yes album since then.
Check it out:
Andy White was the session drummer that George Martin brought in to
replace Ringo on "Love Me Do" during their first recording session.
His career since then has not been very notable.

Actually, he has had a very distinguished career as a pipe band drummer
and drumming instructor. He currently lives and teaches in New Jersey.
Here's a link to a sound file of Andy speaking about the "Love Me Do"
session earlier this year:
And a link to one of the piping and drumming schools he teaches at (note
the absence of a mention of The Beatles in his bio!):

Surprised to hear that Alan White played the drums on My Sweet Laord. MSL
has a very Ringo'ish sound to me.
